My evidence comes from education on the subject and logical conclusions of said education.

    Your insults are uncalled for.

So please tell me, how does extra cylinder filling affect bore wear?

    P.S.
Just read the thread over, and the only thing you said is random stuff like "causes more stress".
After I said in detail why this does not apply, you proceeded to throw personal insults into every post.

Really, well let me just go on a tangent about how I think you are a complete tool instead of discussing the topic at hand, and then at the end say - ah sorry it was not meant that way.
That's exactly what you are doing here.

          Anyway, enough OT.

Dmitri get a hold of yourself.

Ill believe someone that builds engines at the end of the day not you who have been proven wrong on various occasions not all discussed or shown on the forum.

So yes, if boost is lower and mapped properly, it should last longer than the same engine with higher boost and again mapped properly.
Engines that make more power, running more boost, will wear faster than the same
engine making less power with less boost, not really surprising.

However, take a 2.2 that makes 300hp with a turbo and a NA 2.2 that makes
300hp and the NA one will need a rebuild 10 times sooner than the
turbo engine, this is due to the fact that it needs to rev much higher to achieve the power.
The point being, as has been said in posts before, it is revs that wear engines
out and higher revving engines put much more stress/wear on everything ,
boost puts far less stress/wear on an engine to make power than high revs.

Keep them ad hominem's coming, you're doing good.
You still have not posted anything about how higher cylinder filling affects bore wear btw.

                  Bravo.

An AAN engine on stock head makes about 400nm at 1.3 bar at torque peak.
So 400hp will be theoretically reached (discounting cam profile, head flow etc) at about 7000 rpm, in practice later. So you will need a rev limiter of 7500 and constantly rev the engine there.
Compare that to 600nm of torque, and you reach 400hp at 4800 rpm.
Even casual overtaking will mean putting it into 3rd and taking it to the limiter every time - if you want to use the power...
Not really hard to see which approach will cause more engine wear .
The EGT's will be pretty fun too at 7500 rpm and K26 #6 housing...

And this is of course talking about the 1%. The rest of the 99% the car will be cruising in vacuum unless it is a race car.

Thanks for the addition jo. As my point was on my original post to compare apples with apples.

Also in practice most people running high boost usually keep it to high revs anyway. So then you end up with more boost and higher revs. Cause lets face it that's where the power is made, especially with all the 0.82 proposed are on the turbo hotsides.

It makes sense to compare real life situations that matter, such as running 1.3 bar vs normal, 1.8 taper 1.6 pressure in case of the OP.
I don't see any references of the OP to 0.82 hotsides, he has a K26/K27, and they all run #6 hotsides. The K26/K27 is a mid-range turbo, it is hard on boost at 3800 rpm and out puff at 6500.

Theoretically of course higher boost pressure with everything same being equal and the car driven exactly the same will produce more heat, higher risk of detonation and so on (but also make more power).
Practically, your driving will be completely different. Having a flat 1.3 charge pressure on this turbo will be like driving a naturally aspirated car and will need very high revs to reach a good output, the high revs and the small hotside will significantly increase heat and engine wear compared to just running the turbo in the mid range, as it is supposed to be.

OT, but you two guys are the best ! The exchange of banter is healthy, once it doesn't go over the cliff.

I'm just sorry we can't all do a group skype on here. We'd all have a great time, just like being in the pub with your mates having a beer and a healthy exchange of views.

As it is, my visual imagination is working overtime.

As long as there is no lasting impact from such a strong exchange of views, then "no harm done", apart from some possible damage to the hammer and tongs, and no I'm not tempted to now start a separate thread asking what size turbo to use on my S2.

Kind regards and best wishes to all.

                          Hello Kenneth,

My 2p worth is that regardless of wear with which setup etc.

I would suggest use a quality set of H beam rods which can be purchased from Aronmatic on here.

While the engine is in pieces inspect for wear and rebuild/replace parts where necessary. Giving you a good strong bottom end.

The reason being once you have had 400bhp for a while it becomes addictive and over time you car will feel like it has become slow again.

So at least at this point you can just upgrade bolt on parts without stripping and rebuilding again.
