would it be necessary to change rods and piston. If i want 400 hp out of my aby.
If it is. What should i prefer to use. rod/piston for sale anyone.
Kenneth.
for 400hp just replace your head gasket + ARP bolts just in case and get it mapped properly.
it does not worth to put stronger rods/pistons...unless your engine is very old and worn .....and if you does it,then think about 500Hp to make it worth,is just a suggestion

IMHO, just go to full RS2 Hybrid spec for the 400bhp, and that should keep you happy for a good while, and if someting goes pop, then use the "opportunity" to consider your options, but don't open the engine if it is all goood at the moment.
In my mind RS2 hybrid spec =
RS2 Airbox, or S2 one modded to RS2 spec, RS2 hybrid turbo, RS2 intercooler, (or if budget allows Wagner front inlet manifold and matching intercooler - future proofing and speedier pick up), Wagner Cast RS2 Evo exhaust manifold, RS2 downpipe, Cat by pass pipes from say Ultimot.de, RS2 exhaust, plus a Prj ECU chip to match the spec.
Once you open the engine, you'll need to / have to / want to do various different things to it as it is open, which will cost your a fair bit compared to the suggestion above.
Somebody else might list the various things for you that need to be replaced one, as a matter of course when the engine is opened, and to, the things that can be / might be / should be upgraded as it is open, just to scare you back to choosing the first option above. which makes sense if your realistic target is "just" 400bhp.
400bhp is a lot in an ABY Avant. This forum can suck you in, allowing you to think that you need the ultimate spec on various parts of your car, e.g. brakes, wheels, suspension, etc., but have a go in 400bhp B4, and it should keep you satisfied fairly easily and for longer than you anticapate.
Also reliability is always a great thing in a car. Having to trace faults, fix them, spend money on it frequently, not being able to drive the car, takes the good out of the car.
They'll always be a better car and spec on here, to catch your eye / attention.
Hi macspring.
Thanks for answer. I have change the engine a littel. 7a cam, wagner intake, tubular exhaust, kkk27 turbo, big IC, adjustable cam wheel, steelwheel on the crank, other ignition, 0280 150 984 injector. other ecu (adjustable). What should this setup be good for. I dont want to boost more than 1,3 bar.
I have never started the engine. Want to make all the change before.
Any idea what need to be done

You dont need pistons - stock pistons hold 700hp with no problem. With proper mapping of course!!!
With all this things You've done, You are ready for even more than 500 -Just other turbo, injectors and rods (SCAT, china or other) needed.
Cheers

I have an idea, that the engine would last longer with an moderat boost.
Maybe its possible to boost more, i dont know.
You have the wrong idea. How long the engine lasts will predominantly depend on who and how maps it.
You can melt everything easily even at 1 bar boost if you do things incorrectly...
