Replaced with 044 pump and no improvement.

Looks like a trip to AndyP's to try out that coil.

Also priced up the knock sensors today.

Struggling with the HT leads as these are NLA from Audi.

7A plug leads will *just* fit under the 3B cover, this is what I have on mine.

Hope items sort out your problems. I did find that my car is very sensitive to plug gaps and which plugs, took a while to get right.

Just thinking.. 3B is also very sensitive to the static timing being absolutely spot on. Best to stick it in a high gear and roll forward till the flywheel 0 mark is perfectly aligned in the bell housing window, then check the dizzy position. (might as well double check the camshaft marks while you're at it)

Has the car ever run ok since Dialynx converted it?
What exactly have they done to it for the supposed RS2 spec?

I am going to have to assume and say 'yes' that it did run OK. I say this because the guy who had the work done was a semi professional racing driver (Howard Spooner) and there is no way he would have been happy with it like this.

I can't say exactly what the conversion involved as they never gave him a receipt for the £12K it cost!!! Off the top of my head it's the usual RS2 injectors, exhaust manifold, turbo, inter-cooler, ECU mod, bigger brakes and Milltek exhaust.

So it has never run right since you accquired it then! Bit odd to spend £12K and not get a receipt or know what they did!
Might be worth spending some time looking and verifying all the conversion items in case they are not what you think they are. For example if I asked you if the fpr is a 3 bar, would you know the answer?

On a more basic note I cannot see fuel filter replacement on the list. Also when you replaced the rotor arm was it the correct 11mm one? The output tests for the injectors will not help much. They would need to be cleaned and tested professionally to eliminate them.

Seems that the car is being starved of something, either fuel or air. Unfortunately you will have to make a thorough inspection and a logical elimination of components. Even though the fuel pump is not the cause (unless there is a massive voltage drop to it under running conditions!), it does not rule out the supply from the tank or indeed the supply to the injectors or the injectors themselves.

If you get stuck, post the part numbers or pic to help identify the components.

I guess its not impossible for an electrical problem to be responsible if it reduced voltage to the ignition/fuel components. Would be a good idea to measure the voltage drop to the pump at least under load. Worthwhile to relay it to prevent it in any case.
Unfortunately there looks like no quick win here!

Looking back at a few threads it looks like you used this rotor arm:

If so, that has a resistance of 5K Ohms (5000) not the 1K Ohms (1000) that is specified for the 3B. What difference that would make I am not certain, but its not right according to the specification!

Well the car is now running 100% better than it did a few weeks ago. We started the day by plumbing in a boost gauge to see what it was doing, and it was only 15psi, no where near enough for the claimed performance. We then leaked checked the 3 vacuum lines off the back of the inlet manifold ( we did the rest of the system on Steve's last visist ) and only 2 of them would hold pressure.

The way the vacuum line is plumbed up is slighty odd as there is no nipple on the turbo cold side, ( not an RS2 turbo?? ) so the N75 valve is Tee'd into one of the lines off the back of the head. So, we fixed a leak on that and then established that the dump valve was leaking, this was swapped for my spare and now all 3 lines held pressure.

Another test run resulted in 25psi and a huge jump in performance, and also a few startled cyclists in the Peak District

I'm still not sure the car is running 100% of it's potential as it still gave the odd cough and splutter when the throttle was applied quickly, but it's a massive improvement on a couple of weeks ago.

Not sure what turbo Dialynx have used as the KKK ID plate was missing, the missing nipple on the cold sie makes me thinks it's some sort of K26 hybrid. Not bad for 12K

That is just dumb. Lots of folks adding non-KKK K24-7000/7200 turbos drill and tap a fitting for the N75 WGFV connection into the cold side of the turbo in question. Dialynx didn't? Strange.

Garrett drilled and tapped to accept recycled KKK cold side fitting:

                        Thats encouraging!
I guess some pics of the turbo, at least the cold side would help ID it! Could be a K26/27. Still it does prove the principle of establishing what he has actually got rather than what he thinks he has. RS2 spec often means nothing like an RS2 especially on the turbo front!
