Ok, i ordered the s3 valve from vag parts. placed order on thurs afternoon, got up this morning, & its waiting on the doorstep! Considering i'm in Guernsey & post can take up to a week to arrive, i'm stunned.
Top service from Alan & the guys. That is how to run a business.
Will post findings once fitted.
Darren.
Mine is fitted reversed because when I first fitted the DV it was (very) second hand. Being quite old it had conformed its seat shape to that of the original plastic piston. I replaced the piston for the ally one but the seal wasn't good. I should have lapped it in place at the time. This is not a problem with new valves that come with the ally piston as standard. Fitting it reversed means a greater pressure area keeping it closed and apparently recommended when fitting some of these valves to certain cars. I have a selection of springs for my DV but it seems to work fine on the softer green spring. You can get green, blue, red and yellow which all have varying strengths. Some have suffered from surging when fitting a spring with too much spring rate. Stiffer springs are only necessary when you are running so much boost that the piston seat in the DV starts opening and venting.
@BCDESIGNS, you have shown a vent-to-atmosphere DV...is that a FMDV004? This is not recommended for the I5 when running a MAF.
I suggest people stick with a recirculating DVs for the RS2/S2. Mine sounds chav with a very open airfilter anyway if thats what you are after. Forge DV006 is quite large so the DV007 is probably a better choice if people want the Forge ones. I will discount 5% off retail as the margins are low.

It won't destroy the engine. Can't remeber where I read about vent-to-atmosphere DVs and MAFs but I am sure someone here can comment. Vent to atmos will be no more improvement than a standard recirculating one in terms of response at gearchange. Tom (Audiman) had a vent to atmos on his S2 but then changed for a recirculating type. What were the issues you had Tom?

Paul was organising group buys for these. But I guess the forum owns the tooling as they paid for it in the original kit price? If thats the case then anyone can buy them with the permission or by paying commission to the original tooling owners direct from Samco.

I will order a batch of DV007s next week if anyone wants them. They will be priced at £76+VAT and delivery. Think retail is over £80 plus VAT and delivery.

Hi
How can I identify if my DV is working ok? my rs2 builds boost (at foot down) until almost 1.5bar, then later drops to 1.1 (with foot always down)...
I ask because I cant find here at Portugal anyone with an RS2 to compare to... is that is ok like that.
Yes, it is... I installed 04 because i saw one in a rs2, i went in a tuner, and he said that the dump is ok and kill turbo lag...
Now i am with your words ... i like the noise but if this are destroying the engine, i have to remove this dump...
Were i can read more info about this DV on 20v?
look who is here :-)

change your dv... forget those funky sounds. good machines dont need to make funny noises (unless they are from factory) to run fast ehehehe.

Tudo bem?
I change because the stock valve is made of plastic... And yes, i like the funny noise but will change soon for one with more performace... i hope!
