Fairly sure I don't have any return valve on there, just the banjo fitting.

Dave and rusty thank you loads !

        Really helpfull cheers lads !

Interesting, I know I can have an inline non return valve fitted but is it not needed ? On my pump I have an elbow not a banjo, the rubber hose will go directly to it, will this work ?

          OH....

Now you are calling it the "non-return valve". Before it was the "return valve". Just a slight (100%) difference.

Non-return valve = check valve = keep the fuel in the pressurized feed line to the fuel rail when the fuel pump is off. You *DO* need one. Somewhere.

The question now is whether your pump has one internally or not. I know that the 091G fuel pumps used on the UrS4/S6s have an internal check valve. I also know that the 044 Bosch Motorsport fuel pumps do NOT have an internal check valve and you need to add one on the discharge line (to keep the fuel rail pressurized for fast(er) restarts).

Both the diagram and the photo in post 16 show the RS2 Fuel Pump with a banjo fitting. You're saying no banjo fitting.

If it is like this one below, it will already have an internal check valve:

It was off a forum member who removed the valve to fit on their 044 pump

895906091F was dropped from the system on June 30, 1995 in favour of a 895906089E, i.e. the one that shows in the RS2 fuel system diagram I posted above the other day.

Thanks for the info so question is do I need a valve on there ? I managed to find a brass inline one today, it won't look pretty but should work if needed

Going to say no to this one, the OE S2 pump has a built in one way valve and would bet the RS2 pump does too. Looking at the pic S4boy posted above i can see the output pipe is threaded into the main body of the pump, my bet is the valve sits below it.

ok here is what i have to work with....as mentioned its not pretty and to be honest i have my doubts....my friend at work sourced some bits, the problem is the thread on the rs2 pump, its not a common size and if i knew an 044 one would fit id of bought one off ebay by now...this is all i have found so far, a 90 degree elbow, pipe and not in the picture an inline one way fuel valve.

Will this work? As mentioned i can see its a bodge but......... in theory........
