    Update:

Tried to fit this last night, was out til 1130! the wife was really impressed.....not

So it didnt work, located it in the original basket, cable tied it down even though it was already a snug fit, fitted the brass elbow after installing as no room to maneuver etc

The pump would not pump up any fuel, so removed it again and tested on the battery and it wirred away as you would expect, although it appeared to be not as strong as the s2 one.

Then there was the issue of no feed to the rs2 pump, thinking something like a fuse had gone i checked them and also swapped the fuel relay.....nothing. Managed to wire a feed from the battery direct to the pump to get it to pump but still no petrol coming up.

I am wondering if the inline non return valve is causing it to block, and yes I had it facing the right way...

The soldered sections were covered up before fitting.

Tonight I refitted the stock pump and it didnt start straight away, I primed the pump first with a direct feed from the battery and started the engine no problem.

It runs as normal, just peeved off about wasting a whole evening on it only to go back 2 steps. Wish I had bought a new 044 bosch unit with fittings now but I am finding too many to choose from....

Please help me if you have ever fitted a bosch pump to an Avant!

By the looks of it the one way valve you are using will not be up to the job, to me it looks like one with a rubber valve no good for high pressure

the valve on the inside appears to be plastic and i could easily move it backwards and forward with my finger....hmm perhaps i should of tried it without, but im under the impression i need one.

the issue i have found is the thread for the outlet on the pump, i understand its not a common size hence why ive had to bodge all this together

The valve you are using looks like a common low pressure multi purpose, we use these in marine plumbing drains and such. Plastic frame inside with a sprung rubber discs stops flow in one direction

I think this valve would collapse under the load from the fuel pump !

There a ball and spring one way valve which screws to the pump and then your hose fits to that, I do not see that

Hmmm this is what happens when you let others get involved, the fittings were all sourced by our garage Forman who gave it the big one.....yeah it'll be fine blah blah blah

Well fook me I should of done what I usually do and that is do it by myself !

So back to square one then, need to get a pump ready to go or get a fitting for this one.....

Fitting RS2 fuel pump is a giant waste of time.
It does not really support any more hp than the stock one.

and for what people charge for them you could get a genuine 044 pump that is new and not been used for how many miles and years...

Or even an 040. Spending anymore than beer money on a second hand fuel pump doesn't make sense.

Andy, I'd flog the RS2 one on eBay and buy either an 044 or 040 both of which are worth the hassle of fitting.
