I'm using one. Advantage is less oil(fumes) going into the engine. Some of the 2.5 TDI's have a oil separator(catch tank) as std.

A disadvantage in cooler climates is that there is more condensation in these tanks/pipes/hoses and you can blocked lines because of "yellow slush" freezing inside.

    Cheers,

The main advantage is that you don't have to worry about that little stop valve breaking and blowing your cam cover gasket out...

I have a question: why returning the filtered air back into the turbo, and not just let it go up in the air?

Because for the MOT your not allowed to vent the fumes to atmosphere and it is ment to help performance by having it connected to a vacuum.

There is absolutely no performance help as the breather air is already one time burnt!

Factory catch tank.. didn't know about those.

                        what is MOT?

I have an oil catch tank on, but with no air return. Does this mean i get less air into the turbo or not? The air from the oil catch gets otherwise back in the air line just before the turbo, so it is bypassing the LMM. Is this bad?

MOT is a test to check the roadworthyness of vehicles every 12 months once they are 3 years old or more.

With the performance bit I have got the book to hand to quote it so wont put anything on here about it just yet
