Yea everything else on the car is pretty much catered for , I don't know what it is really the more I think about pulling the motor the more I want to sell the car , theres no thread I can direct you towards but there has been much blood swaet and tears getting it to where it is - so many nights of being moaned at because of late nights and weekends at work
400-450hp price?

This thread is making me want to upgradge the S6
It's already had a rebuild with new rods, valve stem seals, has an RS2 manifold, 3" turbo-back exhaust.. on the original clutch though. How much power will the stock clutch take if you don't launch it from standstill?

Sorry to hijack the thread... but could I just bolt on a bigger turbo and get it mapped then? Would need to fit the FMIC i've got sitting around. Already has upgraded fuel pump.Comment

Need injectors and exhaust manifold.
Clutch will slip if you put anything decently sized on there. 500hp is a fairytale IMO.
You could put a K24-7400 on it for example, that'd hold on stock clutch. Conservatively mapped RS2 turbo will hold as well. Anything over 1.7 bar with decent timing will slip the clutch after a while, especially on the heavier C-chassis.Comment

It's already got an RS2 turbo with a conservative map. Guess it's going to get fairly pricy with a new clutch. Currently running the RS2 EM - would I have to upgrade to Wagner EVO?Need injectors and exhaust manifold.

RS2 EM is ok... depends on what you're looking for really and depends what you mean by "upgraded fuel pump" - if it's the RS2 unit, then it's no good.Comment

Fuel pump is Bosch 044.
I suppose I'm trying to find out whether (given the money I've already invested in the engine) there's an inexpensive way of getting 100bhp+ more power. The RS2 turbo was new when I bought it (5k miles ago ish) so should get a decent trade-in on that.
How long does it take to change the clutch on the C4?Comment

depends how hard you drive it.
ABY intercooler was on the limit about 400hp felt.
I did 2 bar boost on the sc61 I presume about 500hp using others as examples.
it held. no launches no big gear changes. you could feel the dual mass squirm a bit.
I used an 044. bout 2 off an escort wrc for 100 quid. used seimmens 650 cc injectors. vems. wagner etc.
prj knows more real world. mine was fine, his advice is a better aversage of examples. point on chassis weight is a good one too.
to clarify my point I feel that some bits are good for 500 ish for limited time. the overall package is 400hp on aby with correct turbo size, ex manifold and fueling.Comment

@urS6Tom - it looks like you have done 90% of the work for an RS2-spec car already.
What are you running in the way of ECU - when you say 'conservative map' I assume you had it remapped? Do you know what boost it's making at peak & redline or what power it's got? If you're at 300hp then you've got another 50-70 very easily, if it's 350 then there's a bit more involved to get a similar increase.
@audinut - sounds like you (and her inside) are resenting the car a little... I got like that with my old S2, ended up garaging it for a year until I had time, funds and motivation to work on it.
May be worth taking some time away from it or getting rid of it if it's not what you really want. Once my S2 was back on the road after a hell of a lot of grief with the car and failed attempts to sell it, I drove it almost fault free for about 18 months and really enjoyed it. I then sold it to fund a tired RS2, which fulfilled my dream, and started the process again

To be honest i think your right , but now i have almost finished the car I really don't want to drive it daily only to see all my hard work get dinged up and stone chipped up , my mate said a new owner will only drive it and the same thing will happen but my point is at least it wouldn't be my car then
I would love to build an engine and the cost isn't really an issue as there is no time scale , but the time and effort required is ......especially when you work in a garage 6 days a week too
However I would like to think my efforts haven't been wasted as the avant list is dwindling and this one has definitely been saved

@Ross yes, it's already RS2 spec (apart from intercooler where I'm running a spray to keep temps down). MRC mapped it to roughly 330 (hasn't been dyno'd). It's around 1.5/1.6 bar boost at peak. They said they tried more boost but it felt a bit flat as they weren't able to do much with the timing. Maybe I should just leave it, but if I could get a significant increase with a bigger turbo I wouldComment
