you'll be fine....just get you boost gauge ordered!....

I'm still at a loss as to why there are the 2 date stamp in the casting as twoqu's pics only show one...who fitted your vac lines?...if it was your first mechanic I'd get your 2nd to take a look and make sure they have been fitted in the correct order.....

Think I spotted another one at least in the pic which looks to be 95 with a few dots around the edge which makes sense as the date clock should be concurrent with the date of manufacture! Perhaps they intended a few more years of production and put some blank years in!
Without doubt there are differences. On mine what looks like a date clock says 01 and even on a D variant (the original being B) I have it appears to say 04. So perhaps its mine that are not original!

hmmm, now the car is starting to hunt on idle. grrrrrrrrr!

and sometimes stalls when slipping into neutral coming to a stand still.

and not a lot of power down low, so have to take more care off the mark.

sometimes its fine, sometimes its a bit more laboured.

        ffs....this again...

Yeah, you have a leak on one of the hoses of the intake manifold, congrats.

100% the boost leak test was not done correctly.

            Agree with prj.
Did your mechanics mentioned the ISV leaking ?
I would then thorough check the connection on the bottom of the ISV to the manifold of course together with all the little hoses but that elbow it's a pain and NLA it's easy to adapt a common elbow anyway.

looking at pricing out something similar to this as well

people have suggested doing it as it's not that $$ and it'll be a fresh start.

dropped the car off yesterday to get the shocks fitted and a gasket. spoke to them about the boost stuff and idle and they were really responsive. I summarised the suggestions here so they have some good leads.

they would have started checking things yesterday

dropping off the RS4 today to get new rear discs and pads so I'll check up on it then

                        i'm quite the regular

"...Hi John, spent a fair amount of time on your car today trying to check for boost leaks, and it looks like there are no real ones to speak of. Pressurised it up to 30psi, and it drops down fairly quickly, but no major leak noises can be heard with stethoscope, and it still has pressure after 30+ seconds. Will have another quick go tomorrow morning with some soap spray and a second person to hold the pressure up at 30, but a good leak would be very obvious with that much pressure.

Will then look at reasons for low boost. The valve N75 is the right way around, I don’t think the cat is blocked, and the altitude sensor is reading about sea level as far as I can tell from computer data (1010mbar)."

From where exactly are they applying pressure? What are they blocking off?
Picture? I still do not think it's done correctly.
Also, it should not be dropping quickly. Dropping quickly means it has a leak.

thanks, have passed on questions and comments (minus the - I still do not think it's done correctly part )

thought I wouldn't be too harsh. they'll get the picture from the other info.

This is why its better if you can work on the car yourself unless you can find old skool mechanic! Like Prj
