Disconnecting and riconnecting the MAF plug can result in a better running engine (search MAF connector here in the forum)
On the other side I don't understand why while you had a mechanic or exmechanic looking at the car you did'nt check the timing set....
But of course that's up to you and your priorities.....Comment

Their first step was to get familiar with the car (take a look under the bonnet and see what was what. it was all within a 1 hour lunch break.Disconnecting and riconnecting the MAF plug can result in a better running engine (search MAF connector here in the forum)

I'll ask him to check the timing next time.

Finally got my A into G and plugged in the ROSSTECH to see what it can see.

Next step will be to take it out for a decent run and re-read and I expect the mixture adapt errors will pop up again.
The ex mechanic from work is also looking down the water temp sensor avenue and is gathering data (what the sensor \ switch should be if it's working normally)94 RS2 (Prototype) Guards Red

Yeah, that was the first task for the new mechanics 4 or so months aho. a few weeks later and with some guidance from Dimtri (from this forum) and they couldn't find any leaks and had thoughts that it was ECU related.Boost leak testing time:

Still trying to source a OEM non imobilsed ECU (I got sent boost and fuel chips from an NZ crowd but the car never started with them installed)
Could be time I try and level up on some leak testing skills .
Which is frustrating , because the mechanics weren't doing this for charity....94 RS2 (Prototype) Guards Red

And a rescan this morning after the drive into work.
A short trip , but managed to get a few WOT runs down Cobham drive.
I'm noting an absence of the mixture errors.
Which lines up with how I feel the car is performing after the guy checked connections \ reseated things on the car. (the errors would have been stored since I cleared them yesterday arvo)
I'm not counting my chickens yet though. Just things look and feel encouraging. (pretty sure that sentence has jinxed it
)
Will rescan in a few days time after more k's.

Ok, latest update.
Before the car went into get re-sprayed it ran rich. It would still boost under WOT but a bit of smoke came out the exhaust and was abot 10 - 15% down on power + scans also reported it running rich.
Car had boost leak tests, swapped out the MAF, injectors checked , etc etc. Powerhaus came back with the ECU could be the problem and would be next port of call.
Hans sent me RS2 fuel and boost chips, put them into my ECU - car didn't start.
I left it for a while as it had beaten me down a bit.
Car went into get re-sprayed. When I got it back it no longer boosted. I could hear the wastegate so something was happening - just no kick under WOT.
I took it to the Toyshop to get a second opinion. They did some tests, disconnect exhaust (to rule out that being blocked) , same deal. They came back with the ECU not playing ball.
They sent it up north to Mitsispares in AKL (ECU specialist) and this guy said it was poked and to get another.
I asked if it could be re-flashed. They said no.
Next time I hear from them they said they'll try and reflash. They did - the chip was problematic so they put in a new chip and reflashed and sent back to mechanics.
Car didn't start. No spark. One possible theory is that it's an immobilised car. But the ECU part number is non immobilised and I don't have a flash set of keys (+ I have an after market car alarm)

Now car has original gear back in it. Still running rich. Still no boost.
I'll try and source another ECU (Dmitri hopefully helping out here
) and see if it makes a difference.
Ideas?

I think the ADU engine uses the G62 (engine coolant sensor) for ECU inputs rather than the MFTS. Good shout though, could be onto something there. John, have a look at this link and scroll down. The symptoms match yours and it was a shorted wire to the G62 at the back of the engine causing the problem: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/20985.phtmlComment

RS2- Just had a dyno run...power down (any thoughts?)
Yes the ECU uses the G62 on the back of the head for coolant temperature.
BUT the MFTS signal is used for an over temperature signal to kill boost control.
Unplug the MFTS (under the water rail) and see if you get your boost back.
Also check the vac tube to the ECU from the back of the IM for leaks.Comment

BTW
What do you mean you can hear the wastegate?Comment

I've just been on a boost-hunt on my RS2. Tried boost leak test, new OEM N75, new rebuilt wastegate with new spring, all new lines including to the MAP sensor. Turned out it was the hall sensor, even though the car ran fine and purred like a cat. - at 0.4bar of boost. Replaced it the other day and it's finally back til full boost...Comment
