Andy, how soon is soon? I was thinking of modifying the idler so it is bigger and would allow me to use the 151 tooth belt. I want to put the engine in next weekend....

After some testing I reckon increasing the od of the 3b oil pump idler I'm using from 74.8mm to 81 will get the tension I want with the water pump 2/3 of the way along its adjustment. So I'm getting a steel sleeve made up 75mm I'd 81mm od 28mm wide and pressing it onto the idler with bearing fit compound and tacking it on there in a few places.

Rxl that isn't the correct belt for a rs2. It has 151 teeth and the correct belt has 150. Obviously it will work but your Tensioner must be almost fully tight.
My problem is that I have a stroker engine with 3b s2 oil and water pumps so my weird setup needs something shorter than the 151 tooth belt or a larger idler.

            Cheers des

Well I know that the belt is the wrong one. But it was on the car and worked. Do you have some pictures or a thread on your stroker project?

I haven't started a thread yet but I have taken many pictures. Hopefully will be running in the next few weeks. I'm going for torque and low to mid range power, not big bhp. I'm going to try a efr 6758.

                                Well, in fact,

I bought the timing belt and water pump together. And Audi Tradition charges EUR 24.00 for both parts to South Korea.
                                I am very satisfied.
