That's right. If you managed to find out that, you don't need to replace it. Just clean it well.

Hi
Did you find the solution to this problem, I have expirenced the same problem two times.
First time it cutout every time I gave full gas, (guess overboost) there was
no cutout with just almost full gas. It did this several times on this drive, but after
a short stop (engine turned off for mayby 5 minutes) nothing happend for many
month, then 14 days ago, it did it again, exact same problem, and again it went
away after I stoped the engine. - And nothing since. What Im afraid is what happen
if this happen in the middle of a overtaking.
Now mayby my description can help solve the problem, I also would like it fixed...
Originally posted by newshEvery now and then, maybe once a week or so, ( yesterday I drove about 500 miles it happened 3 times), I get a cutout at full throttle.
Because its so rare I always miss what rpm and boost pressure, I always back off and or change up when it happens. I think yesterday I saw the boost gauge hit 30lb once just after it did the lurch,(car is mapped for about 25-27lbs, I think, Mihnea?) usually happens in a high gear and I think usually at around 3.5 - 4k rpms. If you floor it again immediately after, it is fine, so its not going into limp mode.
Any ideas guys?Comment

All you need is a 12v LED and a short piece of wire to read the codes.

The failure happend 12/7 again I turned off the engine, and again it run fine.Originally posted by Dr HSounds like mine - have you checked the fault codes? I'm getting 2224.
It really seems to me to be a computer error, how else can the error be gone by restarting the engine.
Today I got my vag-com. I read out this:
00561 - Mixture Adaptation 13-00 - Adaptation Limit (Mul) Not Reached
00513 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28) 03-00 - No Signal
I then reset the error log.
This afternoon the error happend again. Again engine off eliminated the problem, however this time the error happend again within few minutes.
I then read out the errorcodes again, not I also got a 544, I thing it is strange that
this was not in the log from the previously errors since last year.
00561 - Mixture Adaptation 13-00 - Adaptation Limit (Mul) Not Reached
00544 - Maximum Boost Pressure Exceeded 27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
00513 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28) 03-00 - No SignalComment

This also point to the MAF beeing the problem.
But what the hell is a MAF???

Friend of mine had same problems with his S4 2.7T...
Replaced MAF and problems were gone...
Many MAF's fail these days, especially those on turbodiesels...
Bosch knows about this problem(price dropping of MAF's) but doensn't seem to come with a solution...GlennComment

The Mafs on Tdi's and the later type S4 ones are totally different. On the later cars they can be unplugged and the ECU will ignore them. Cant do that with the ice age technology on the S2sigpic
