    This is a PITA!

Crank sensors are white to grey and black to black on mine and my fuse 27 is 15 amp, however I don't have the two fuses on the far right of the bottom row fitted to my car so the layout seems to be different.

Nomally if iniating the output test via Vagcom you don't have to physically open/close the throttle. However it does appear that you have a TPS idle switch issue which may be effecting the output test as thats what appears to trigger it. So you will need to investigate that although its not your main issue!
Now you say you have RS2 injectors but looking at another thread it looks you don't, at least not the Bosch 984. So what are they and more importantly are they high impedence? In fact it wouldn't do any harm to temporarily disconnect them all and then see what happens to eliminate them from you enquires.
Basically if the car worked before you have to go back and examine what changes you made and how that might be responsible. Obviously an electrically dumb component is not going to have an effect!

That's a good point actually, if the impedance is lower they will draw more current I think?

I dont know if they are high impedance?

I have delphi (440s?) that were sold as rs2 injectors in the garage was well.

Unfortunately I have had the engine out, apart, fitted new parts and but everything back together, so there are a lot of variables of new parts+potential **** ups from a straightforward swap.

Another suggestion a friend made is that if the eproms are sitting about for ages (which they have been) they can be damaged by static.

              So current plan is

              tidy up

Swap chipset from ecu that is now blowing the fuse (now bust?) into the other ecu

check timing is 100% (front end off to turn engine over) (or any other suggestions for turning the engine?)
              Check crank mark
              check cam pulley
              check cam marks
              check dizzy alignment.

You only have to measure the resistance between the two terminal prongs on the injectors. If they are high impedence which Motronic uses then they should be above 12ohms. If they are 4-6 ohms then they are low.
If the injector seller used aftermarket ecu then they often use low impedence injectors. Relatively easy thing to check and better than knackering an ecu!

Yes, always roll it forwards onto the marks to take up backlash.

But you've had spark so it should be ok.

Of course the issue has got worse somewhat but at first it sounded like a power supply issue to the injectors and then no fuel which both pointed to the fuel pump relay or the signal from the ecu which is the holding relay!
If the ecu is blowing its power supply fuse then its either drawing too much current or it is shorted somewhere.
If you don't have Mike's 3B Motronic manual it would be a good idea to download it as it will tell you which positions to probe on the fusebox.

The green bosch injectors fitted are about 16ohms, the spare delphi ones about 18ohms.

If its sparking is there any point in checking timing? Would it spark but no fuel if timing slightly out?
