Which thermostat?

Need a new 'stat mine appears to have failed fully or partially open meaning my coolant temp drops down on cruise. After my recent woes with parts from what I believed to be OEM quality suppliers, does anyone have any experience of which thermostats are any good?

Anyone know what the OE fit was? Behr, Meyle, Gates, Febi etc?

I too have Whaler from the dealer and have never had problems with that brand. Out of interest what brand were you using?

Have a Mahle from Quattro corner and not had any problems with it so far.

Got mine from Euro. Something obscene like £5 I think. So far so good.

The OE one's that I know are Wahler. Orientation is supposed to be as shown below.

Had same issues here, doesn't drop much, but it does drop below 88, and it never used to... looks like I am after a non-ECP part...

Got mine from QC. Can't remember the make now, but checked it in hot water and opens at same pont as old one. 87 I think. About £10 instead of £30 at dealer.

Only buy genuine thermostats mate. As mentioned above Pete Is the guy at QC. He had a load in rcd toy half price. Something like £50 delivered.

Just ordered a genuine Wahler from Amazon for £15 delivered.

For reference Wahler p/n is 4116.87D1

Cheers Alex, I am going to get one too along with an OEM Behr MFTS. My temp gauge is reading too low and runs far too cool on the move. Also takes quite a while to reach fan kick in point. I assume it is one of the above that I need.
