I'd have thought the ECU would throw mixture adaptation limit codes if the fuel pressure was out.
Rs2 coupe running issues again

Thanks for the replies much appreciated. It may be that the flat battery erased the codes. so tomorrow I will take it on a long run to see if the problem returns . Then pull the codes again. I now have vag com lite set up on my computer Thanks to Dan: thumbs:Comment

No worries over the Vagcom Lou.
Good to see you again, and thanks for the coffee. I do enjoy driving the roads that lead to your place - its like a rally stage.
Hopefully you will get to the bottom of whats causing the problems soon.Comment

Thanks to you Dan I reed my own codes today. I took the car to Acton nr Sudbury today
About an 80 mile trip on the A14 Bury road. The car ran ok most of the time, but for the rest of the time ran as sick as a pig what ever gear and what ever speed, sometimes threatening to cut-out completely, and became almost un drivable. It cut out a couple of times coming up to traffic lights.
Anyway I pulled the codes myself for the first time and got three codes. So it more or less proves that when the battery goes flat it erases the codes.
Code one was 00537 lambda oxygen sensor control limit not reached---intermittent.
Code two was 00525 decode all DTCs 19-10pl.
ease register/activate 0300 register activate.
Then 00513 which I think is speed sensor.
Am I right in thinking that 00537 could implicate the FPR. I replaced the lambda a sort while back when I had the same symptoms, and it seemed to cure it. If it is the FPR will
It have done the lambda again.
A couple of other things which may be coincidence the bulb warning light beeps every time I put my foot on the brake which it has never done before even when the brake light bulb had blown, and the abs light flickers when I accelerate hard.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Newsh said he will send me a FPR in a few days and I will swop them over, hopefully that is what it is.Comment

I'll be home Sunday night Lou, send me a pm Monday to remind me and your addressComment

Not sure if the Guru's explanation sheds any light on the matter:
Secondly are you sure that you don't have a battery/charging issue. The ABS is guite sensitive to voltage and your battery is going flat! Check to see taht you are getting over 14V at the battery with engine running with a multimeter. Otherwise if the battery is healthy you must have a drain somewhere.Comment

Thanks Robin I will check the battery voltage tomorrow. The alarm keeps going of in the night. I have disabled the siren, but all the flash, and it runs the battery flat. next doors cat is in love with my s2 it will only sit on it , and not on any of the others. Bloody thing.Comment

I checked the battery with a multi meter today with the engine running and its 13.7
Newsh has very kindly sending me a 7a fpr .So we will see if it cures the problem, the lambda is only a couple of months old ,but would the running issues have done damage to it.Comment

Either fully charge the battery and see if it gets above 14V or if its ancient look to replace it! Otherwise you may have a charging issue which may be affecting things.
Might be worthwhile disabling the car by some other means if the critter is a repeat offender!
A failing charging system may explain the sub 3000 rpm issue as it struggles to provide enough power. Possibily alternator failing?Comment
