Searching for unicorns: 049133245 Banjo bolt with threaded head.

I don't know what exactly it looks like. I was hoping to find a photo but I couldn't. If it is what I hope it is, it could be used to a) hold the UrS4 fuel feed line to the fuel rail and b) provide a point to insert a fitting for either a mechanical fuel pressure gauge *OR* a pressure transducer for an electronic fuel pressure gauge.

Also used on mid-1980's VWs (KE Jetronic?)

    On the Audi side:

    On the VW side:

I would just drill the head to the banjo bolt and weld a hose fitting to it

Martin: For starters, could you check the threads (the male and female) and maybe post a photo? It would be nice to know if the unicorn is really what I seek.

Thanks Nick. That bolt looks like what I am seeking. The question is whether the threads are correct for an Audi application (I have a Russell banjo bolt with NPT female threads on the top but the male threads are wrong).

You posted the double banjo bolt photo before. That is an option too. Just not one I am pursuing at the moment ("Plan B")

This is the bolt you pointed me to. No details on the male thread:

I did a lot of searching on this a while back and gave up in the end. I could not find one with the correct metric thread and npt thread.

I ended drilling a hole ind the banjo bolt and welding on a boss with npt thread for the fuel pressure sensor.

http://www.autometer.com/fuel-press.html - But I'm pretty sure it is the wrong metric thread.

Dave, you're not going to believe this but....

This was in a plastic bag of bits that were left over from the rebuild of my ur, back in the late 80s, I don't think I've looked at it since then! The car had an engine bay fire and needed a new fuel metering head so I ended up with some spares..

I have a few of the 8mm banjo bolts and the one 8mm to 10mm male to male

The larger thread is 12mm x 1.5 and the small one is 8mm x 1mm

Thanks for posting that up. At least I know that exists. The 12 x 1.5 is perfect but I *think* my pressure transducer is M10 x 1.

10 to 8mm adapter shouldn't be too hard to find.

Finally found the DEFI fuel pressure gauge pressure transducer/sender. It's NOT M10 x 1, it's 1/8" NPT (tapered pipe thread). So now I need to seek a new unicorn. M12 x 1.5 male and 1/8" NPT female threads.

Like mentioned before, just tap a banjo 1/8 ntp.

The head of the standard banjo bolt is not thick enough to allow tapping *AND* installation of the fuel pressure gauge/transducer without the gauge/transducer protruding into the banjo bolt and restricting flow into the fuel rail.

This is why they do this:
