The South African Volkswagen Microbus's had the 92.8mm stroke crankshafts.
stroker with 92,8 crank.

The crank was from a diesel van, as Varia noted. The block is an AAT.
The rods are DM Forged (link), and the pistons are Wiseco.
Correct. But mine was skimmed down to fit in a typ89.2013 Touareg TDI /// #farmenwagen

dont want to build one on diesel block. so stock block will do..
So i was wondering if the full balanced crank with flywheel/clutch and front pulley is needed??
and another Thing is that the crank is new and it does not have any drrive for oil pump.
can it be obtained at stealers?
i bought the crank from privat Person and it costed my left lung.

was the 92,8 crank in AAT.. strange... are you deff sure that ?? use the meshurement to check it out ;i do have AAT also...and in familiealbum.. its 95,5 stroke... and 81,00 bore...2,5 liter ... you DO need a dieselblock to build a deasent stroker..
the 92,8 cranc are a rare peace...( old stylich 5pot)
the oildrive unit you can heat up with a deasent torch.... from a wrecked crank..Comment

you can also use the Eurospec crankshafts

http://eurospecsport.com/products/co...rankshafts.htm
or you can buy a complete stroker kit and you have all the right parts for stock block.

AAY is the South African engine code for the stroker 92.8 crank, VWSA only produced the 2.5 for a couple of years then went to 2.6 using the diesel 95.5 crank in their Caravelles and Microbuses.was the 92,8 crank in AAT.. strange... are you deff sure that ?? use the meshurement to check it out ;i do have AAT also...and in familiealbum.. its 95,5 stroke... and 81,00 bore...2,5 liter ... you DO need a dieselblock to build a deasent stroker..

steet tuned car.. you cant have over 25m/sek in pistonspeed..if the oilsystem can feed the oil... with the 92,8cranc the 158-160 conrods, the dieselblock( the better bottom end in block and the longer block,236mm and the thicker dieselheadbolts).. the hyd lifter are the weakest.. so safe 7500-8000 in short periode
drysump will give about 15% more hp,and with mek lifters.. may 9000 rpmComment
-
7.500 rpm max, with sorted valvetrain and lightweight hydraulic lifters... if going mechanical lifters you could go beyond 8.500 rpmComment

Drysump increases hp? 15% more? I´ve never heard that...
When using a stroker crank, especially when using the short 144mm rods, healthy rpm limit is around 7500, but limitted by piston speed. 7500rpm makes a bit more than 23m/s piston speed. I don´t know how upgrading the valvetrain should improve that. Especially, if made with light hydros- which are not an improvement anywhere, IMO. If you want to rev the stroker higher, lighten crank, rods and pistons. And take the longer rods to minimize friction losses and lateral force (tall block necessary). THEN, mechanical lifters can make sense.
Stroker cranks are for the torque-"BOOM" in lower rpms- lazy about changing gears, fast response, reduce consumption. Not for having a revmonster.

We're talking short , 220mm block here, RXL mentioned a few times that he is using stock block and 92.8 mm crank , which is not diesel !, diesel cranck is 95.5 mm.Drysump increases hp? 15% more? I´ve never heard that...

I know he´s planning short block. That´s what makes it a bit less revvy.
I only called it "diesel" because I linked "stroker" with "diesel"...I´m used to from my project which is done with diesel crank
sorry. Fixed it
But calling it "diesel" or "stroker" does not matter. Rev limit is the same.Comment
