Use ethanol vs IPA to clean MAF & ISV

Well it seems that i have one liter of IPA and well 10 liters of ethanol.

Can i use ethanol to clean my MAF and ISV?

I think that IPA is used as it leaves no residue. Dont know about ethanol. Meths for instance has addatives and is therefore not suitable. If you havr IPA I would use that. 1 litre should be plenty.

        ipa/ethanol.........

From my chemistry days and from work today the only difference I believe between the two is that IPA is a mix between ethanol and methanol..... as for additives I am unsure but I would have thought that there would not be much in it......except if you were going to drink it I suppose-)-)........

IPA = 2-propanol. So a maybe a bit like methanol and ethanol. But not as nice as Vodka!

There would be no problem drinking the ethanol, since it is about 100% pure. You can use it for making your won vodka
Just mix 4/10 L ethanol, 6/10 L water and some vodka flavour and there you go. Did it was with out adding the vodka flavor, dont taste quite that good though.

So i guess i can use the ethanol then.

I wouldn't use either on the ISV, you dont want to dry it out, best to flush it out with WD40.

Except maybe a standing up problem?

Hmmmm well WD40 is not something i would use for cleaning. Will try the IPA / ethanol trick.

                    wd40 does the trick OK.
Close one side of ISV valve.
Spray wd40 in the other and let it soak.
