Starting issues - Car starts and then dies after 1 sec

So I have some weird starting issues:

Car cranks and it seems to just start and then it dies.

I managed to get it started after fitting non immo software and recharging the battery.

I then drove for a little while and then stopped to was the car and afterwards it would not start again.

Same problem, it start and then dies maybe 1 second later.

The stock software I got should be immo free, so immo should be removed.

But if it is not immo, then could it be the cps? or maybe isv?

Any help or ideas aprreciated will go and do a fault code log and then tried to start it and see if it throws any fault codes.

I had a similar issue. The car just died without any sign. Then when I tried to start the engine it just cranks and dies before geting to normal idle spped. The car is non immo s4. And in my case was a fuel pump.

Spark test is fairly easy. If there is a spark, most probably is a fuel problem. This test and ECU fault codes are a good start.

        Reporting back:

Managed to start car so it seems it is a heat related problem.

It is not a immo problem since I managed to start the car with my non immo key. The key symbol was flashing in the BC but it was running fine.

It did throw a fault code:
        Address 25: Immobilizer Labels: None
        Part No: 4A0 953 234
        Component: IMMO AUZ9Z0R8082674 D72
        Coding: 00000
        Shop #: WSC 00000
        VCID: DFC9274F77AD

        1 Fault Found:
        01176 - Key
        07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent

But I dont think that should have any effect.

So reading your link urs4boy it could be the cps sensor since cooling it down can help it start again.

In ability to handle heat is one sign of a dieing G40 cam sensor. Next time it fails to start after driving it, pour some cold water down the back of the cam belt cover to cool down the Hall sender (cam sensor). If is starts right away then, you have your answer.

Should you need to replace the cam sensor, you can use this DIY

Not summat as daft as the maf ? Just thinking if it's heat related like mine was. It cranked over and fired up but wouldn't idle smoothly for at least 5 minutes then all was well

Could be but mine just barely starts and then dies 1-2 seconds after.

Are you able to feather the throttle and keep the engine running?

My s6 did this, Fuel was not getting through. After changing the fuel pump and filter it still did it. I bleed the fuel line by slackening the nut on the fuel filter Got a load of air out and its been fine ever since.

So just bringing this back to life again, since car wont start again.

First couple of tries it started up for a couple of 1-2 seconds and then died. I could not keep it alive.

                          Tested the following sofar:
Battery - Ok 12.5V at the moment
Immo - OK not the culprit
Fuses - Ok checked engine and fuel pump fuses
Starter system -OK Car is crancking fine
                          Fuel injectors - OK 12V

Fuel line - Problem is here - THere is no fuel in the feed line, I took it apart and ran the starter for 20 seconds and no fuel.

So change fuel pump relay with a new one I had laying around from A6 (40/30A relay but otherwise the same) and still the same.

There is signal from pin 3 on the ECU

                          Fuses are ok.

                          No fault codes.

So I'm thinking either filter or pump. I have a new upgrade pump from efi-express and I will tried to change this next.

However I can change the filter, need to get to a lift to do that.

                          So i'm missing anything?

Yes. Everything is pointing at a bad fuel pump and you still haven't changed it.

20 mins work will get you to the electrical contacts on the fuel pump - only then can you see if it is getting 12V when cranking.

If not then you have problem with ECU wiring to fuel pump relay or the relay itself is bad - or it's a wiring problem between relay and pump.

If the pump is energised then a few minutes carefully undoing the feed line in the engine bay will determine if you are getting any fuel.
