Is it cam sensor or crank sensor, your first post says cam and your second post says crank.

I would carefully check the cam timing to see if one of the pulleys has slipped on it's keyway or the belt has jumped a tooth.

If the belts jumped a tooth would this cause intimittent reading and a short with power on the scanner?

Possibly, checking the timing is pretty easy and worth doing before you go any further. I know for certain that you can lose boost if the timing is a tooth out.

You are asking the Audi Gods to Smite you with vengeance by ignoring the signs of impending doom.

But check out the wiring at the connector/plug.

Sorry, but it seems like you haven't read the G40 info in the link very thoroughly. A couple of hints with LEDs in there and this diagram and this link: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/139944.phtml
