    3b Hall sensor alternatives?

Hi, guys. I m having problems with my 3b hall inside dizzy. Twice I have broken camshaft on intake side just on the dizzy gear. So I think to place sensor on cam gear. I have read in forum that a bracket can be welded under cam gear and sensor can be positioned there. If I use an AAN cam gear what other things I have to change?
Do I have to change water pump, oil pump, belt and tensioner?

AAN G40 Camshaft position (Hall effects) sender mounting transitions

    Welding? Not going to happen.

    Have a read on this:

Usually a threaded piece of ally is welded on the head where you can fit the hall bracket, no difference really.

Usually? It has to be done with some precision.

        This is the factory's solution:

This is "rune" aka "Bruno"'s solution (from Norway):

If it's in right place there isn't any difference if it's welded or bolted down. Quite a lot easier to just weld it on than machine a flat spot and make holes and threads etc...

The question is on 3b head will a AAN cam gear work as bolt on? Will the old and new cam gear be in the same plane?

Early AAN's had "Tuna can" dizzy (only for the G40, no spark plug wires). The gears are different than the 3B.

Here is the end of the AAN intake cam (in the right hand photo, the left hand photo is a 3B) showing the gear driving this Cam Sensor in a can:

Sorry. Seems dodgy to me. And what happens when the actual sender portion fails and needs replacement? Seems like a lot of future "fun"

Ehh... you need to switch the lights on Dave. If the sender fails you just swap in a new sender, no difference to the OE solution. Of course the actual hall bracket is bolt on the alu piece, you can't weld steel on aluminium. (if I remember right the hall bracket is steel)

You remember wrong. The bracket is something cast (aluminum or ??). From your photo, I couldn't tell that the bracket was a separate piece. On closer inspection, I can *just* see the separate bracket.

Ok, I did remember wrong, but anyway welding it wouldn't be so smart.

No proble welding the bracket ( have done it on many 7a heads ) , but there is also possibel to drill a hole and make threads and make a qucik bracket , cant find the picture of the easy solution

i made a template to get the proper location of the bracket (the sensor will bolt onto this, just like with the OEM) copying an aan head

then, i welded the bracket (was made by JP on this forum)

                          came out perfect:

How often do you hit the rev limiter? How often do you check the cam cap nuts for tightness?

If I have to be honest I hit rev limiter very often (almost every time I change gear). The car is near 750 crank hp. I dont check for tightness. I tight bolts with torque wrench.
