Car conked out

The car died today, it will sometimes start if left for a while but not take any throttle, happened while driving on motorway, went to accelerate and it stumbled. Backed off, it ran for a while just on a small amount of throttle but gradually got worse, I'm thinking fuel.
Pump runs and has about 10.5v at the plug, sounds ok, nice humming noise.
Vagcom had a bunch of codes but cleared them and now showing no faults

Seems to be the throttle position switch but might be the MAF.

MAF would be the first place I would look.

I had the same problem once it was the maf

I will swap the MAF over from the coupe.

MAF was my first bet, so I unplugged it and it wouldnt start. I thought it would at least run well enough to get me home with the MAF unplugged..

Yes John, could be the filter is blocked..

It's not the MAF anyway, I swapped them over and the coupe still runs fine, avant does not. In fact it's not starting at all now.

Time to pack it in for the night..

In my experience it is rarely the MAF. That's just something telling you something is wrong, very rarely the cause.

I would check first for fuel delivery with old fuel pump relay "hacktivator" routine.
