Hi guys. Have a problem with my cams...they won't turn. All caps are the right way up, all in correct places and torqued to 15nm, caps, cams, head oiled and cams ain't moving.
Checked cams and caps and there are no dents, scratches or anything, same goes for head.

Just changed heads, that's all. Cams and caps are from replacement head.
So the cams and most importantly the caps are from the head they were originally in from the factory and orientated correctly.?
Remove the the cam belt and move the crank so the pistons are all down the bores well away from the the valves and start backing the caps off a little at a time constantly checking if the cams will move, the problem should show itself

How hard is it to turn engine after assembling? Not a great video but that's me trying to turn engine. Pushing on that bar a fair bit. Just afraid to shear key again.

With the spark plugs removed the engine should turn smoothly with no tight spots, you should be able to do it by gripping the harmonic damper though I use a spanner on the alternator.

followed Audi Workshop manual, all caps orientated correctly (looking from intake side, numbers are right way up). Caps 1 - 5 exhaust and 6 - 10 intake counting from front of the engine. Torqued front caps, and then torqued 1 3 5 2 4 on exhaust and 6 8 10 7 9 on intake. Haven't dropped anything.
