FPR wont make it not start. I would say replace the dizzy (complete) as you dont know if your hall sender is ok and that comes with new dizzy, along with cap and rotor arm. Complete dizzy is £148+vat exchange from the audi dealer. Maybe VAGparts can do you a deal on this?

Porkis, I think if there is a sensor input missing then you just get one spark per revolution, at TDC. This is certainly the case with older systems in the urs.
George, when you fit the new dissy you MUST get the marks aligned exactly right, be sure to turn the engine in the right direction when checking the alignment too. If alignment is not spot on you will get a misfire.
U don´t need to remove the inlet manifold. I made a tool shaped like a "Z" out of a 13 mm wrench. Works fine. Saves U the trouble.
I had the same problem. Be sure to get the timing right.

Ok, could be. I stand by Paul then
Søern, it might be a bit harder on RHD cars. We can access the dizzy bolt from behing the engine but on RHD cars the brake stuff might make this unpossible. And having the battery and battery support on the inlet side it probably is a PITA.
Well it's not actually easy on LHD eighter and the official story is the blah blah about removing the IM but I've done it plenty of times now on different cars and no big deal with proper tools really.
