      Good question!

(Scroll down for short answer! )

      Here's the long answer:

I turned up at 8.30am and was greeted nicely told that they would look after me and my car. They did the walk around, and there was very litte to put on the inspection sheet...

I sat down at 8.40am and was told it would be two, probably three hours. I told the guy to take as long has he wants, I had booked the day off work and brought a good book to read plus has some texts and phone calls to make as well.

I was offered a nice cup of tea at 10.00am which was duly drunk and then the fitter came back though at about 11.30am to say he was nearly finished. He eventually finished at 12.30pm and said it had taken longer than he even expected. Again, I was not really bothered as I was chilling in the waiting area listening to Radio one.

Upon inspection all was well. The interior was almost perfect, the A pillar trims looked like they had not been removed, and the interior had been hoovered. The outside was good but not perfect. I could accept that, he had obviously spent a lot of time on it and there was no damage to the leading edge of the roof or the outer A pillar trims. He told me the 'screen had a 3 year guarantee and if it leaked to bring it back. That did not fill me with the greatest of confidence, I have to say though! I got the impression that he had not really enjoyed the last four hours.

Anyway, I drove off to almost immediately be greeted by rain, turned on the wipers and only the driver side one worked!

I turned straight round and drove back. The fitter was slightly surprised to see me, and I showed him the wiper. He apologised, and set about sorting it out, which I supervised. It was a simple problem, he just hadn't pushed the wiper arm far enough down the tapered splined shaft or done it up properly. As we were fixing it a recovery guy turned up and started chatting to me about the car. "OOh that's nice, don't see many these about, proper car etc, he seemed really interested".

I told him they don't make them like this anymore, that it had been remapped and he was very complimentary. The fitter then chipped in with "He takes it to show's you know". So the manager had obviously had words before I arrived....

Anyway, I set off on my way again and decided to leave the detailed inspection until I was home. I was hardly going to ask him to take it out again there and then if I didn't like it anyway!

      The short answer is this:

      I don't think it leaks.
They have not damaged my car.
There is still a small amount of swarf in the car which I can cope with.
The passenger side outer A pillar trim is nearly perfect
The drivers side outer A pillat trim has lifted 2mm where it meets the roof and the black rubber sealing strip is slightly misaligned.
The screen does not make any undue wind noise

Overall 8 out of 10, I think the fitter did his best and as long as it doesn't leak I will be happy with it. The 'screen looks a lot better than the old one which has delaminated anyway.

Sorry for the overly long post, but it's a little story isn't it!

      Cheers,

      Steve

Car is booked in with John at JMR Racing in Littlehampton beginning of July...

Very friendly chap on the phone... really sounded as if he knew what he was talking about (clearly has done them before)

Proof of the pudding 'n' all that...

I'm sourcing the trims and rivets as I'll be paying as a job (rather than insurance), due to me wanting to fit a Terrybullwon heated screen...which I already have, rather than him suplying - the insurance is apparently raised via the invoice for the screen....which he won't have...and in any case, if I'm paying time, I can pay a little extra for the extra care...

These are the parts I am looking to order up:

              895 845 121 C - screen top trim (x1)
              895 845 121 E - screen lower trim (x1)
              443 845 631 A - screen distance piece #1 (x2)
              443 845 237 D - screen distance piece #2 (x3)
              N 905 763 01 - rivets for gutter (x16)
              N 904 376 01 - rivets for top clip (x4)

I got these from 7ZAP, but don't really trust myself, can anyone confirm the top and bottom trims are deffo the correct ones?

              Thanks

                k.

I hope it all goes well. John doesn`t fit the screens himself he has a specialist come in and do it. Mine has been in now for about three months with no problem. Good luck.

So... the part numbers I quoted were correct... price of the trims makes your eyes water though - for what they are...

Screen fitted, a whole week later and it still looks pristine.

I can honestly say John ( and Troy) at JNR were an absolute pleasure to deal with. True enthusiasts and very keen to do the best job possible.

Dropped the S2 off early one day, had a courtesy car (just for local running about) and came back the following afternoon

Kev, the guy who actually fits the screens started mine just after lunch as the last job of the day. This way, he could take his time and get it right almost regardless of time...

Great job, perfectly aligned and really no issues.

He confirmed the reason for the earlier breakage was shocking fitting. The heating cable was scrunched up in the corner where the crack was and the screen was sitting on around 12 - 15 mm of adhesive, along with a kind of draft excluder foam... just awful. Since the bead of adhesive was so thick it could not have hardened in the day they had it. Coupled to the fact that the cable was under the glass, I didn't stand a chance...

The screen now sits on around 2 or 3 mm of adhesive, properly aligned, not too high with trims fitting well...

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them...

Also, over a coffee, they showed me round the sprint / hillclimb Corrado they are building.... gonna be cracking. 4x4, turbo, dry sump, 600+ bhp...

That sounds superb to me what i've read above. I'm interested in having one done under insurance but should i supply a screen can i ask what you had to pay,and how much were the windscreen trims? Cheers.
