    sunroof drain holes

Currently have a very soggy drivers side foot well
I've blown compressed air through the front two sunroof drain holes and also the scuttle panel ones.
I searched on here but can't find an answer to the following:
Are there rear sunroof darin holes????
And if so, how do I get to them???
Oh, its an avant if that helps.
    Thanks

My driver's footwell is, er, unwell too not sure where its coming from, have you checked your bonnet release cable where it goes through the grommet near the fuse box?

My sunroof is closing a bit strange, it sticks up slightly at the front Don't think its that though as the drains should deal with any leaks there.

I have yet to check the grommet - but whilst doing searches I saw that it was a common fault - so will be checking tomorrow - along with the other 2 sunroof holes - if they exist!?

I have the same problem too, mainly in the drivers side footwell but in the rain yesterday when I went to the car it was ****ing into the passenger side footwell

My sunroof recently packed up, it will not slide back, but it does tilt.

Any info on sunroof drainage would be greatly appreciated.

        Cheers

Yes. There are two rear sunroof drains, they come out above the tail lights IIRC.

There could be missing rivets on the windscreen trim causing the soggy footwell too. Just peal back the rubber and take a look.

Do a search for posts by Stick Insect, he seems to be an expert on leaks, and Morris Minors funnily enough.

Hmmmm can only say for a urq/cq but there are 4 on them and they are 2 for the front and 2 for the back, the front 2 come out by the A pillers and exit just about by the door hinge the 2 at the back come out of the vents on the side. I would have thought they should be in a similar place on the series 3 for the front at least. I check mine with strimmer wire every so often as it's nice and flexible and won't damage anything.

Yes Amanda. They are the same, the front ones come out by the hinges.
I can't say I've cleaned my sunroof drains recently, but I think I rodded them from the tail end.

Do it from the top not the other way round and try it as water in the footwell is the usual sign of a blockage

The problem i had with my sunroof was teh seal on the roof was leaking and water was running on the underside of the glass then dripping on the blind and flowing down the a piller to the footwell

                        Lots of rain=lots of leaks

Mines coming in both sides, almost identical, worse on RH. Running down (from somewhere) inside the diagonal rubber door/window seal and down the inside of the door pillar onto the carpet. The car has had a new windscreen & there are a few missing rivets down the pillars.

Sunroof drains are clear (I think they come out too far down for my leak)

FYI the holes that the rivets are fitted through look like they used to have some sort of cloth tape over them (on the edge the door seal rests against), but most had been removed in the past. Have taped them up.

Have siliconed up a lot more joints & it's raining now so will soon see...

I had this on an old golf and now have it on the S2. I cured it on the golf by using some blak silicon sealer to fill a small gap in the sunroof seal. I'll report if this works on the S2 as it too has a small gap <5mm which would leak a bit!
