    Bonnet Vents?

Lo all. In my quest to sort my car out I figured I'd look into venting the bonnet before it gets resprayed, in the interests of getting rid of heat from under there.

Yes yes, I know I took the p!ss out of the carbon bonnet the guy with the fast S2 at Coombe had (sorry, I forgot his name :S ) but it makes sense now, given the bigger blower under the hood.

So, has anyone got a vented bonnet I can look at a picture of, or got any suggestions of what style to use? Thinking of getting a brand new bonnet (I think GPC are the cheapest on that, aren't they?) or one from a scrappy and hacking away with the tin can opener (or a blunt axe, if it's to hand - wanna make sure it's a proffessional looking job!) then getting the thing resprayed. Keeping the old one in case it looks like crap.

Don't want no scoops, impreza style things which will lower top speed, just some vents, somewhere in the region of the turbo and downpipe, maybe flat ones, so as not to mess with the aerodynamics (though it's been a lil while since I took the car over 165). I don't give a stuff about the looks, making it 'bling' or hard looking or anything else. Function is the key word, here.

    Any suggestions?

    No rude ones. Tom... :mischeif:

    No more.

Leon TDI 150 run in now.

    Very slow.

    Needs a chip.

I like this style of vent a lot, its like the SQ bonnet vent. Although I would prefer it more to the side though like the SQ vent.

the one mark put up is like what i was trying to describe. All be it quite poorly, But like mark says i reckon it would look better if it was nearer the ended off bonnet next to the ridge in bonnet.

The vent on the wing that rob posted is like the vw transporter or the merc diesel ones.. alot of people with golfs do this, but i think its more for show

This is the type of vent that I would like (the one on the side above the turbo, not the front) and in that position too.

A surprising amount of work to do that, I know someone who could do that quite quickly (not me I'm afraid) Brilliant body man, makes aluminium bodies for Aston Martins etc.

If you are serious he can do it.
