I have a set of old h1/h4 euro headlights for my coupe gt with reflectors that are quite faded and corroded. After doing some research they can be professionally rechromed but that apparently costs an arm and a leg. Others have tried it themselves but warn others not to do it because they do not come out good. Has anyone successfully rechromed their headlights, professionally or DIY?
not only do you ship your parts to europe, you spend a fortune getting them chromed... then pay shipping back! awesome!
...not
check out chrome powdercoating, first they lay down a copper like powder, then that creates an electrostatic charge on it for the powder to stick on.
all depends on the skill of the painter also.
i heard there's a place in texas that does chroming... if you find that place and it's a good deal i'm interested in shipping some of my stuff with yours for a group deal.

To be fair this is mainly a European forum so i would expect the reply to be regionalized?

Yea thats okay I wouldnt expect you all to know places in the U.S. besides I was more after the process info rather than a specific company but any input is appreciated regardless what side of the pond

To be fair (to all commenters), it seems that if you do not select a home country when you first register as a member of this forum, the "system" defaults to your home country = US of A. Kliminati456, I am guessing, is not from the US (even though his little home country flag implies that he is). Hence the confusion.
There are companies that rechrome metal and plastic on both sides of the pond. For example, I know some C4 UrS owners in Canada have had their painted outside mirror shells vacuum chromed successfully. On that basis, I assume headlight reflectors could also be done.

WOW! They are great now.
But it must be a little bit expensive, not?
- send the 2 ABY lights
- pay 40 pounds x2 for the elipsoids
- pay 70 pounds x2 for the high and position piece
- ...
kliminati is in the USA i believe, down in Pennsylvania or somewhere on the northern east coast like me. or i'm thinking of someone else.
anyways, i figured i'd tell him it's cheaper to find a place stateside vs. shipping them out, but like he said, he wants to find out more about the process vs. getting them done at this point.
my friend "did" chrome powdercoating and when he did they came out tip top. he doesn't do powdercoating anymore though... i want to start learning though. good way to make money!
