Raising the windows helped a bit but there is still water getting in down the A pillar. Its actually getting behind the trim piece that carries the seal. So I drilled out the rivets to see what is going on. Here's a pic with the screen trim removed, I'm going to seal the main trim to the body with some new gasket and refit the screen trim with the rubber reglued to it, it was loose. Some dumdum in the top corner to stop the water getting in there. I need the rivets though, not sure what size they're supposed to be..

How do you remove the piece of trim that normally covers this area?

peel back the door seal and drill out the rivets, then it slides down and pulls off
Easier said than done!
Yeah, best to take the seal out and drill all the rivets up the A pillar and the fist one or 2 along the roof line. You can see how much muck the water has dragged in there, a lot of this muck was in between the main seal trim and the bodywork of the roof, meaning the rivets wouldn't pull it up tight, with some gasket and a bit of dumdum all is now looking good.
In fact its been raining a few times over the last couple of days and there is NO WATER IN THE CAR!!
Awesome! I think you have have found my leak as well, its been driving me nuts.
Keep us updated please.
I've got a feeling I may have the same problem. Just been out to car after the rain today and the towel I have on the floor is damp again.
I thought the issue was the bonner release grommet or the seal around the fuse tray, but these are all good and absolutely no blockages, so no standing water.
The water itself seems to trip from off the tray under the steering wheel - the actual side of the footwell - right side is dry and the water travel appears to capillary an inch in from the inner wing (if that makes sense).
The problem has been doing my head in - I recently had my Coupe have a new windscreen and watched with interest how the glass technician removed the window, rubber seal and rivets, etc. I too noted how much debris builds up in the a pillar.
Not really looking forward to stripping the rubber down, etc, but I know it's a job I've got to do until I can get motor in garage and we are subject to more rain.

EDS, explain again where you think the water is coming in, it sounds different to mine. Could be the same though, running down the inside of the A pillar interior trim and then running down the side of the dash near the door to drip off the tray into the footwell. The best thing to do is to take some gaffa or masking tape and polythene and tape right over the windscreen trim onto the glass from top to bottom making sure youdon't leave a gap at the top near the roof. Then wait for rain or try a hosepipe and see if it still comes in.

I mean the tray under the steering wheel....about an inch or so in from the right, the water is dripping....very small, but significant over time to soak the towel.
I think your advice about taping the windscreen is a good idea....I will try this next...

Word of warning. Don't know if it was the result of some bad paintwork or just unlucky but I used elec insulation tape to cover the seams on the windscreen trim and when I peeled it off some flakes of lacquer came with it
Maybe masking tape or something less sticky is safer.
Convinced it's this area now...can hear wind noise getting in from the drivers side on the motorway.
