HI there! Want to start a discussion on replacing the rear wiew mirrors with the RS2 ones.
Is it a bolt on operation?
Is there any option to buy two equal size mirrors for the looks?
Where's the best price?
Are there any other alternatives, such as mirrors with built in directional light?
Do a search on the forum. Doug and others have done it. Its NOT a straight bolt on as a little metalwork is required on the doors and some electrical changes are needed IIRC to the connector...
Those mirrors actually come from a Porker of some sort - maybe easier to source from a Porsche breaker.
Paul, if you by the RS2 mirrors from Audi they are a straight fit on the Audi 80 Coupe, so the should fit straight on the S2 Coupe.
He bought them from germany for a little under 200£ including VAT and shipping.
If anybody is interested iam getting some parts from my german dealer here next weekend can ask what the price is and so on. I get a 10% discount.
The audi RS2 mirrors need some electrical splicing to the S2 door loom. You can get the RS2 loom so it would be a straight swap, but it is expensive. There was an electrical diagram for the RS2 mirrors - somewhere - but this was not correct for the RS2 mirrors you can buy from Audi - maybe the design has changed from 1995.
RS2 has a special bracket required to bolt to original S2 mounts in the door
The hole for the base of the RS2 mirrors, on the S2, needs opened out - easy with a dremel style tool.

Dont quite get this, cuz as i said my friend bought the RS2 mirrors from audi in Germany and they where a straight fit on his Audi 80 Coupe, and i dont think there is a difference between audi 80 coupe / s2 coupe.
However not sure about the electrical part, can ask him about that.
So bottom line is that if You buy the RS2 mirrors from Audi or VAG parts, You need the bracket as well, and then it will be a easy fit. I can see there are different thoughts about the electrical loom, i dont see that as a problem, got the knowledge to trace and find out the connection myself, will of course take some pics and post it here!
But has anyone tried to mount some other mirrors such as M3 or other products?

I am 100% sure you have to cut the hole in the door to get it to fit.
I got the kit of parts (including brackets) from vagparts.
there is a german guy,he´s put audi tt on,plus made a very nice armrest and load´s of other thing´s on his audi 80 cab,he has a site but i have lost it,htere is even a step by step.
