  • Headlight trims

Inspiration for this one came from Vas who has modified the std. trims to include an air inlet. I thought I'd make some from scratch and add an even bigger inlet.

They are not finished yet, I still need to do a bit of work on the fit and finish, then paint them to match the car.

Pretty pleased with them so far. I might even make them again, this time using mild steel as stainless is a bitch to bend. I think I could go even wider and get rid of the gap between the trim and bumper which has always bugged me. This way I can make the air inlet even bigger.

Andy, why dont i lend you the RS2 trims and you can make them from steel as well. That mesh looks really good.

would be pretty difficult to get the compound angles on the RS2 ones, you'd need to press the part or machine it from billet i think.

fiberglass would be easier. I think i have an unmolested set back home that we could use, as mine have been molested on the right side with a similar mesh

The only trouble i could see with using fibreglass is that the trim has to flex a small amount to fit it properly, fibreglass i think would be quite rigid?

i was wondering that if you get a piece of metal and weld the mounting points a bit at an angle, with a bit of grinding here and there, it could work... ?

Is it really worth all that hassle just to get them at a bit of an angle?! I know I'm not that bothered, as Alex said, creating the compound angle would be a nightmare.

of course it is worth it! you can sell it for more than 100GBP afterwards since it is custom made of a part already NLA!

                        think of the $$$ hahaha

but dont go to the dragon's den with this idea though...

If you made a slightly boomerang shape when you bent it you'd get the front at an angle, I think..

The hours it takes to make custom parts to this standard, £100 is nowhere near enough!
I think these are is one of those things you have to make for yourself!
