    Heater box foam sheet

Can you get a replacement stick back foam sheet for the heater box seal flaps?

This would be interesting to know, as since my heater matrix went and was replaced a few years ago ive had sporadic little pieces of foam fly out at me from my heater vents.

I would also like to know if there is something to replace the old deteriorating foam with. I've got to do something before the box goes back in.

I would use something like this, glued on with high temperature adhesive

Ensure a good adhesive is used, I replaced the foam inside and the damn self stick adhesive must have failed. I barely have any hot air coming through in the winter

There is a black insulating felt padding that is used by Mercedes Benz for insulation purposes. It has an adhesive backing. I have used it to refresh a couple of heater boxes that have lost their foam insulation for the flaps. The part # should be 000-989-23-10 or 001-989-23-10. It is about 70mm in width & comes in small rolls. If you know any of the techs at the MB dealership he probably has some in his tool box.

I just re-did the flaps in the S2 today.
I used the foam backing on replacement roof lining velour. Peeled the velour off and used spray contact adhesive.

I did mine using a reasonable quality felt and contact adhesive, had no problems with it and it should not break down like the foam in the future.

                  A search reveals this.

This looks about the same as that used by skull. Thoughts -

Looks the same that I used.
                      Works chop chop.

You need a sharp blade cutter to trim the new edges but the rest it's dead easy.
The big work (more of a pity work..) it's cleaning the old one to have a clean surface.

Any chance of a new link for the foam for this job?

Also what make of matrix are people using? I don't want a cheap one that will leak in a years time!

                              I used this stuff https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201181704646

I wasn't that impressed with the fitment of the Nissen matrix, given the choice go for a Valeo as that is what my original was.
