          Some bad and good news

          Hi Guys,
          Sorry for delaying in reply.

          Ill do some explaining.

Things have not been going very well with our project at racing24de.
They contacted me early last week saying the following:

          Hallo,

          Mario Hartwig

I’m at work and haven’t got time to translate it all but it basically means –

          Hello,
Unfortunately, at this time we can’t complete your request and are not able to supply you with a completed plasma dial product.
We would therefore like to refund you your deposit.
I will be in contact as soon as the Plasma dials are ready and if you are still interested then we can fulfill your request.

After dealing with the disappointment especially considering the amount of time that has gone in to this I emailed them again asking why this had happened as it was sounding so promising only the week before.

          They replied again:

          Hallo,

          Mario Hartwig

          In other words….
We are changing our manufacture for our plasma dials and the special inverters for the dial switching mechanism are still not finished.

          ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So to wrap that chapter up they are refunding me my deposit as it may take them a while until the gauges are finished and they don’t want to make it seem like they are just taking the money.

But! And it’s a big But.

On the same day I hunted around and found another manufacture for plasma dials.
I emailed them explaining what had happened regarding racing24de and they replied with in the hour saying:

          Vielen Dank für Ihre Anfrage.

          Selbstverständlich sind Sonderanfertigungen möglich.

Bitte senden Sie uns Ihre Layouts und wir werden dann prüfen, ob dies umsetzbar wäre.

          MfG

          T&W GbR

They are more than happy to help us out with this project.
I have since exchanged about 7 emails with them regarding the designs/ layout switching.

It all looks and sounds very promising, especially as they do not require a minimum of 50 sets to be made up.

I have emailed them the designs that racing24de came up with (previously posted in the thread). They confirmed that they could manufacture them to the spec that I supplied.
However the next day they said that the people that produce gauges also make/ used to make the gauges for racing24de and recognized the design. Therefore they could only produce these if they had permission from the original designers.

They emailed them to get permissions on there designs but have not heard back form them yet.

-I just remembered that the people im dealing with now also speak English so here is there email:

          Hello,

We have talked to the factory which produce the el gauges for us.
The problem is, that they told us your design is already owned by racing24 and without their agreement they will not produce the el. gauges.

But we have asked racing24 if we can use that design, now we are waitung for an answer.

If racing24 will not allow to use their design, we have to change the design a little bit or make a new design.
Creating a new design will not cost annything extra.

The switching between the different scales should be no problem.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen/ with kind regards
          Ihr T&W Team

I replied to this and received the following email a day or so later:

          Hello,

Sorry, we didn't get an answer yet, if we can use the design of racing24.de.

That's why we please you to make a proposal for some modifications.
By the way, it is also possible to use that design from the Audi RS6 or something else.

          Mit freundlichen Grüßen/ Best Regards
          Ihr T&W Team

I have since emailed them asking for samples of the RS6 design and for suggestions on how we could change the current design so that it would not inflict with copyright laws.
Will let you know once they reply.

So to sum it all up, - The gauges are still coming, they may be slightly different than first agreed on by everyone (I will double check this on the forum), they should hopefully be cheaper and hopefully it woant be to much longer.

Thanks everyone for your continued interest.
          All the best.

          Bo.

P.s. I fully understand if you have got pissed of by waiting so long for now. And I would not think less of anyone if they pulled out of this group buy. As it has taken almost 10 months longer than originally planed 

                Not a problem Ski,

                Thanks for letting me know.

Well done Bo, you've really put some effort into this. I did wonder if we really needed the switching and if it was causing the delay but I guess it will all come together eventually.

Im hoping they will be exactly the same, but that is debatable as im still waiting for confirmation on the current design and layout.

Will keep everyone posted as usual.

                            Great news!!

                            Ok!
I received a email from T&W on Friday evening with the new designs/layout and info on productions time.

I am at work again so have to make it quick.

The new Design is almost identical but the switching between mp/h and km/h is a little different. This can be seen in the image.
You can completely switch off the km/h so that it is hidden from the dial.

The layout is as follows: and shows the dial when not illuminated, when illuminated and when illuminated with km/h displayed

                            TW-AUDI1.JPG

They are also offering the following: Alloy/Steel gauge Rings for the Audi 80/S2 @ £17
They can also do us a special price on the Carbon fiber dash surrounds if there is a interest in this.

Also there is two versions of the AUX gauge faces.
The first version is screwed on and the later version is Glued on.
I am presuming that everyone would like the screwed on version. But please let me know ASAP if this is not the case. This depends on the current VDO Aux gauges in your car.

Also you'll be please to know that price is down form £110 for both sets to £80.00 Delivered to your door (with in the UK) as T&W don't charge as much to redesigns the new Gauges
So there is no reason not to buy the Gauge rings

Thee best news however is that production time is only 3 weeks so i am hoping to finally have these here at the end of September.

Thanks for sticking with me everyone. It really is not long now.
