Recaro from S3 into S2

Anyone mounted S3/8L Recaro front seats into S2 coupe ?

IIRC they are to wide to fit any good. And if you have a sunroof, they are probobly to high as well.

They are also ridiculously heavy, why would you want them in an S2. The fitments are entirely different..

Reason for asking is the need of new seats as mine (LH driver seat) is trash and the S3 Recaro "looks nice" ...
but, as I'm 1.85 tall and also have a sunroof, and as the weight is "ridiculously" I suppose it's really not an option.
Any other alternatives/suggestions ?

I'd agree with the above re their weight. I took some out of my son's car and was shocked how heavy they were. It was a two person job to get them out!

They are not in keeping with the era of car in my opinion. Could you not have your seat retrimmed.. I had my RS2 seats redone in leather and got new trims from recaro.. expensive but they are good for many many years

Agree they're not in the era and I might go for a retrim but for now it's to expensive.

What about seats from Audi TT (1.gen) ? will they fit better than S3 ?

B4 cabriolet will fit.

I seem to remember Golf Mk4 front seats fit but they sit a little higher, the subframes can be cut down and re welded.

Golf mby easiest to get, cutting and welding is no problem, apart from that, is it a "bolt on" ?
Is it only Mk4 or does other models also fit ?

The important thing is the runners are the same, the later cars use a completely different system.
So measure the distance between your runners and check what you’re buying.
I’m not an expert on golfs but there are bound to be a few on here

always thought it was a mk2 golf seat frame that fit with a bit of fettling? But that might have been for the recaro base I have one and cant remember lol

These seats have the same width runners (540mm) and should be plug and play:

Vento
Golf 3 (not convertible)
Passat 35i (but have a higher console)
Polo 6N and Ibiza
80 typ89
80 convertible (but not the ones with integrated seatbelt)

An exeption would be the early coupe with 3b engine,
these would have a different floor as for what I have
read about this topic.

3B seats fit the ABY and vice versa, you just have to turn the release mech around, I’ve done it a few times.

best option is to hunt hard for 80 cabriolet with Recaro's. They do come up now and again. I just bagged a pair recently

Is it big difference on "std" Golf 3 and convertible?
