    Bucket seats

Been having a look around for proper bucket seats for the S2. As some know I already have a Recaro Speed and find it very good indeed but I am a little worried about using it in conjunction with a roll cage as it's not got the side support of a full bucket.

My question is what seats (other than Recaro) fit straight into an S2 without the need to weld, cut and faff? I see that Corbeau do slideers, anyone got experience of these? Any othe makes that people have tried?

I'm not overly worried about the weight of the seats so I'll be looking at GFRP to keep costs lower. I think I'd like a Recaro Pole Position but they're damned expensive

The Corbeau seats would be perfect if it wasn't for the height problem. They are cheap, subframes are half price when you buy a seat, and they are comfortable and supportive. Still waiting to see if anyone has sorted the subframes.

Corbeau Forzas are cheap but the Sprint and Pro series aren't at £230 and £300 respectively and I'd want one of them as a drivers seat at least just cos . Cobra do some nice seats for around £300 but they too aren't cheap. Looks like an entry level Recaro Furious or Apex is actually good VFM. Not sure what the difference is between the Pole Position and these two though as they all look the same, the PP with ABE is designed for 3 point belts.

I like the Speed and could get another as a passenger seat and sell my leather off, it sits low and feels supportive, I've never been found wanting with the track work I've done, even with wallowy standard springs. I'm just a little worried about it not being as supportive as a proper bucket. I'm sure that with harnesses it would be fine... my other concern is if I get door bars on a roll cage then I might hit them and that could get a little annoying or painful...

They're good, a mate had them in his Chavrocco and they were comfy and supportive. However, bits fell off them and they sort of showed why they were so cheap. Had major issues with seat height in that car too.

The Speed sits 1" lower than an OE seat and I'd hope that any other Recaro would do the same, wonder how Doug has got on with his Pole Positions in the S2 although he doesn't have a sun roof so hasn't got the same issues as those of us with SRs have...

Of course, if I bit the bullet and went for side mount seats directly to the floor none of this would be an issue but I would have to cut and shut the car a bit

Planning on getting it to the point where I can and then see if I like it enough to put one in. So that's stripped with decent seats and harnesses etc. If it's a complete waste of time and doesn't work then maybe not because I don't want to needlessly destroy a perfectly good car. If i like it then a cage will be the next addition. If it was just a road car then a pair of Speeds would be ideal.... I'm edging closer to just getting another one instead of the leather but it's a lot of money to make a wrong choice at over £400 for a Speed and subframe kit.

I have Sparco EVO 2's in my e30, one on a sliding sumframe (drivers) and the other with side mounts right to the floor. When I'm in the passenger seat, I can only just see over the dash (I'm 6'2"-3") but the drivers side is perfect. I had a quick look here http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/sport-...c-128_117.html
and saw that Sparco don't do sliding subframes for the Audi S2, but Cobra, Corbeau, Konig and Recaro do. Hope it is of some help and widens your options a bit more.

I spoke to Corbeau UK and the guy there (Richard) basically said there was nothing they'd do and that if I wanted to cut and weld the subframes then best of luck to me. Useful eh!

ciaranthemurph, cheers for the link. I was aware that Recaro and Corbeau did subframes but not thre rest.

That's just brilliant isn't it, looks like there will be a uniform respons to any "should I get Corbeau seats?" questions on here. What crap customer service. I think I said in your previous thread but we had to cut and shut the Scirocco subframes and eventually got something meaningful out of them. They were bolted into the rails and front mount and then had the twin sliders though so it was easy.

Yeah I have but door bars on a cage add a lot of strength to the bars that skirt along the roofline and then down the A pillar. For now I'll stick with what I have until I find something that

                      A) fits the S2 without loads of work
                      B) offers more support
                      C) comes in on budget
                      D) looks

The biggest problem is budget. Entry level buckets area bout £500- £600 a pair with mounts but the next step up is about £1000!

Option 1 is to get a Recaro Speed to match my current one at a cost of £300 (that's about what I paid last time) plus £93 for the subframe and then add harnesses for between £150 and £200 depending on make and style, total cost £500 - £600.

Option 2 is the Cobra Monaco at £250 per pair plus £130 for the subframes and some harnesses at between £100 and £200 a pair, total cost is £480 - £580.

Option 3 is to get some Cobra Imola at £500 a pair plus £130 for the subframes, £55 for the adaptation bars plus and I'd have to try the GT spec to see if I need it for my fat **** (plus £50) and then harnesses at £100 - £200, total cost £785 to £935.

I think the leather in the car has to be worth somewhere near £500 as it's very good and the current Speed somewhere near £300 with the subframe & fitting kit as it's basically new.

There's a few £s to be saved on Ebay with the Cobra stuff.

Option 4 is to get an Imola as a Driver's seat and a Monaco as a passenger's seat, This saves quite a lot of money and as they look pretty much the same (in black anyway) it should be all good. Need to find somewhere local what does them Cobraz and get over there to have a sit in some seats. Merlin MOtorsport at Combe do them but that's a 50 mile round trip or 10 times further than I've driven in over a month

Imola seat in the colours I want to go for:-

£370 with subframe and extra width.

Monaco seat but I'd want it to match Imola colours (this is an option):-

                        £215 with subframe etc.

                        Harnesses:-

Something like this for me :-

                        £95

Something like this for the passenger side :-

                        £50

                        Total = £750 with delivery.

I think halfords sell cobra products. My local has them on display so you can sit in them, dance on them, whateva you like.

Can anyone tell what the difference is between the Recaro Apex, Furious or Pole Position other than the price

                              Apex

                              Furious

                              Pole Position

This indicates that the Furious and PP are the same and that the Apex is the same shell as the more racier types. Must be that the Furious has less padding or something...
