Well after yesterday I'm even more determined to get my car sorted. Shipped the Mrs off to have dinner with her Mum and I have a few hours to spend on the car.I've decided to investigate the leak as the driver's footwell keeps filling up with water. I don't have any carpets at the moment but would like to put one in again at some point so I want to fix the leaks.
After finding a load of expanding foam next to the fusebox I ripped it all out and found that the bonnet pull cable grommet is totally knackered. Looks like someone couldn't be bothered to fix it and just filled it with expanding foam (which isn't waterproof).
Looking at it, I don't know how I'd get another grommet onto the cable. Even if I did, it still looks like that area would fill with water which isn't good.
So, what's the fix for filling the hole? New grommet? Fill the hole (could be difficult to get a good seal?)?
And once the hole is filled, what can be done about the area filling with water? Anything?
All advice appreciated as always
