    Throttle pedal q..

Do all audis have this stupid two piece flappy throttle pedal?

I've been driving a rental almera for the last few days (serious POS), as soon as i got back in the audi i noticed the thottle pedal pivots on a spring, is there a solid unit i can pinch from another model? Never noticed how horrible it was before.

    Mark.

p.s. now i know why the whole world drives at 40mph, speeding is dangerous in a **** box.

Mine plastic pedal bit broke off in a track day last year. It is far better without the flappy plastic bit and the spring that remained attached to the pedal arm grips your shoes quite nicely. I am not in a rush to fix it.

Mine has been through at least 2 MOTs minus it's flappy pedal thingy without any problems...... maybe the other *bigger* problems distracted the tester??!!?!?

I don't think you can buy a replacement plastic cover ,you can only get a whole new pedal which is around £70 from a main stealer!?? (please correct me if I'm wrong!)

Yes your right, the whole thing has to be replaced but at VAGParts it's only £30ish + vat.

                  Too Bling?

The plastic part of my accelerator pedal broke off this week. I wasn't keen on buying an entire pedal from Audi and I had trouble heel-toeing as the accelerator and brake pedals were too far apart.

I went to my local racing supplies store and bought Sabelt racing pedals. It is much easier to heel-toe as a result of the wider and better shaped accelerator pedal. The accelerator feel is also much better with a fixed pedal - the pivoting pedal actually felt horrible in hind sight.

Oh and at GBP20 it was cheaper than buying one Audi pedal

The only problem is does it not look too bling bling?

Not when compared with these methinks.

I've just replaced my broken pedal too. I got one from a scrappy for next to nothing.

No question that the S2 needs a wider gas pedal for heel-toe. I just tacked on a wider Al "racing" pedal. It takes a little relearning to avoid unintended acceleration but when you get the hang of it, you can roll you foot over and flick the gas while still hard on the brakes.

No not at all. Heel-toe is a basic technique in driving. You can find described in most standard books on racing techniques. The Audi pedals are too far apart to allow heel-toe so you use something to widen the pedals.

Heel-toeing also places a lot less stress on the gearbox as the revs are matched on downshifts. On the track it is crutial as simply dropping the clutch on a downshift with the revs too low, will unsettle the car. That is if you believe smooth is fast
