I was asking last week within the propshaft refurb thread about possible vibrations and noises on my car.
Thought I'd best not messs that thread up as the end diagnosis wasn't the prop.
If you experiance really bad vibrations and noises at low revs/idle, on the overrun, under load in a high gear and rounding corners, then please make sure sure your engine mounts are fine.
Mine are, but the engine mount support that bolts to the block on the offside has no freakin bolts in it None there at all, all dropped out and lying on some unknown road.
Engine on the offside is now sitting nicely on the damn subframe.
Easy enough fix, but then they should have been tightened properly first time round.
I'm mad as a hatter (and not mad as in "crazy", but mad as in I'm going to "kill someone")

Can't say really mate, but it's not hard to work out.

When someone does **** work on a car, then i think someone can say!!!

Clearly opinions thru experience are showing just how **** this place is when it comes to workmanship....

My local "good guy" specialists based about 6 miles away from me. Based in Medowfield, Durham. They know the S2 inside and out as Stuart (chief mechanic) used to have two of them. Mak2503 has used them, Lune (Ben) uses them and even Mark has had a service off them.

Only reason they didn't get the car to fix in the first place was because they didn't do bodywork.

You live and learn.

Ah shame, too far away, i've got a major banging noise, when i brake at any speed and i can feel a thud by my feet next to the transmission tunnel.

i had that about 18 months ago and was driving me mad, convinced it was aheat shield or something else close to my feet but when i jacked the car up, nothing obvious, then when i looked about the suspension for any signs of movement the metal sleeve inside the rubber bush had parted company, allowit to move on the retaining bolt...probably sounds worse in the wet too?
