Bo will you be going far to get it done or are you going local?
When you get it done I don't suppose you would post up your exp of the whole thing?
So the little ppl like me can benefit... maybe i dunno

I would also be in the area for some billies for the V6 keeping standard springs as the car grounds out enough without it being lower still. but yeah the understeering drives me nuts... so before i kill myself, need to sort out better dampers if I can.

I think i will still go for the bilstein option. Not sure about springs yet. Maybe standard is the way forward. but i would rather have it a little lower.

Anyway, will have another think about it.

      Cheers.

Bo, i have bilsteins and H&R if you can remember what the ride was like in mine the other week, if not your welcome to drive mine and see what you think.

i got mine from plymouth and there was anissue if i remember with wrong thread sizes on the fronts but we got that sorted out ok, there is a thread of mine explaining the probs i had.

billies and H&R is best for handling which is what i wanted, sod comfort at the moment.
and after having a stripped out mini setup for racing this IS comfort lol

@ Mr Concours Yes that's what i think too. If my back goes i can always swap to Koni's at a later date.

@ Sephiroth401 - im hoping to fit them myself with the help of another forum member. will let you know how we get on

@ Jamo, thanks mate. haven't been in ross'es car and every time i have been in Stu's car we have been doing silly speeds on the track or across the moors and cant really remember the comfort factor

@ s2_southwest, thanks i might take you up on that at some point.

            Cheers. guys.

Anyone have any experience of different dampers on a Ur s4 - s6 advant? My stock ones are completly nackered and i am going to replace them. I also have some slightly lower springs i will fit at the same time. My stock dampers are really done (191K miles) and so the car at the moment is very hoppy and skippy over bumps. I want something stiffer than stock, but not a race car setup, i have a mrk2 golf for that.

I had heard things the other way round, eg billys were soft and comfy, and konis would chip teeth?

I've got Bilsteins and Eibachs on my urS4 and I'm very pleased with them. I was recommended bilsteins for handling and they also like this setup on the s-cars website! The ride isn't too hard at all. The only issue with the Bilsteins is that the rear sits slightly lower than the front but this is very easilly adjusted with some simple machining of the rear shocks. I've not got round to doing this to mine yet but I will soon!!

I got mine from Proven Products in Devon. They've apparently got a bad rep on here but tbh, I've never had a problem with them. I got the shocks inside two weeks (QRSport apparently couln't get them in Months of trying!! ) and they were the cheapest supplier around. Significantly cheaper than Motorsportworld.

Check out the s-cars.org website if you haven't already as there's a lot of helpful info on there, especially the article about modifying the front suspension mounting plates to bring the camber back into line after lowering!

Think they were around £400 give or take a bit.

I have used proven products a couple of times no probs either, on my ur s4 i went for koni's back and front which went ok with the H&R springs, the springs imo were too low, koni's were fine though. On my s6 i have now gone for bilstein fronts but not the super hard ones they do an oem range which seem fine, better than standard but not harsh at all. I did use bilstein sport gas on my old 90q and found them hard great for out and out handling but a hard ride and that was on stock springs. if you are doing the fronts on the Urs4/6 then try and get a hold of the audi tool for undoing the retaining collars, it makes it a 15 minute job each side.
