I like the "Tyre suspension comfort value" I think those 225/35/17's are going to hurt!!

So if the spring are correct and fitted OK you might just need some fatter tyres or 18" rims to fill out those arches or custom springs from coil springs of sheffield (about £175 last time I asked). or find some big friends

If one would like to swap urq struts to newer style 2 part (say e.g. s2) struts and also 01e 6 speed gear box conversion.. which drive shafts would one need? Has anyone done this? Outer cv joint splines are different but is also the length - so can s2 shafts be used?
I'm also very willing to resend this question by email if you can point where to ask (PM?).
            Hi Porkkis

I have put an 01E into a urq. We used S2, front struts, driveshafts and hubs, RS2 arb, urq rear struts, driveshafts and hubs, S2 rear arb (pickups welded to the uprights), S2 front and rear subframes, S2 rear diff and urq prop.

Problems are that the abs won't work because the teeth on the S2 driveshafts are a different number to the rear urq ones so the ecu gets confused and locks out at low speed! - not a problem becasue I track the car anyway. Different offsets for the caliper mounting on the front (so I had to cut up Corey's lovely blocks!). Linkage is 'upside down' at the gearlever compared to the S2 so we made up a bespoke lever so save cutting out the tunnel. It exists the chassis in the same place as a std urq and works really well. Reverse is locked out by a greased spring which you have to press the lever against to select gear!

I am doing the same thing on another urq but this time I am keeping the urq driveshafts, hubs and uprights. I will be welding on the pickups on the arbs on the uprights. This is a much better solution as there are no caliper offset issues and the abs will work fine too.

Btw, the gearbox is a dream, on circuit, the closer 3rd, 4th and 5th ratios are really noticable and suit the engine characteristics really well.

You should have asked for another pair, I would have taken these ones off you as an exchange

Youre right, the tyres came with the wheels though, ideally I'd have fitted 235 40s

                    Hi

Picture of my 225/50/15 P-Zero's on my dirty(hiding the rust) URQ with std springs(1year old) and Konis for comparison to yours. I think fitting H&R's with 30mm drop would have the tyres dissapearing into the wheel arch.
I still think yours does look a little high even taking into account the sl smaller diameter wheel/tyre(17/35's) combo.
