There are upgrade ones kicking around, some like them some don't depnds what other suspension bits you have the harder the shock/spring the quicker the top mounts wear out

there are also two types of standard topmounts 'blues' and 'greens' In theory the blue is the better and is slightly thinner too but to be honest its a weakspot in the design of the component and fails fairly frequently, you'll know as the steering is a bit more vague and it thuds and clunks a fair bit too.

I have found lots of OEM top mounts that have not been secured correctly, which could lead to their premature failure. Actually I’ve found a few dampers loose too, which probably doesn’t help either.
But whichever top mounts you get, make sure you tighten the necessary fasteners correctly. Chasing bits around with screwdrivers will not do it, contrary to many mechanics’ beliefs.
I used blue top mounts for quite a while. Changing the OEM mounts doesn't take too long with lowering springs. I found it hard to justify spending the extra money that the uprated mounts cost, so I didn't bother.

You can use a 22mm deep offset ring spanner.

I used an old 22mm socket from a cheap set and ground a couple of flats on it for an open ended :thumbs

I cant bear to grind up the only 1 I've got (a britool one) so I'll head down to Halfrauds first thing and buy one from there fit for purpose (though their sockets seem remarkably good going on the ones Ive bought from there for similiar purposes before!!)
                              Cheers guys
