    Subframe bush removal

    Guys any tips?

I have read there is a special tool for this Job in a old thread, i was just wondering if there are any other ways to do this other than hack sawing out the rubber bushings?

I did mine last week, I used a piece of steel tube and a length of threaded bar to make a sort of puller to rip the rubber inner part out and then used a small chisel to remove the outer steel ring. It was hard work though!!

Having pressed some bushes in/out in the workshop, I fully respect anyone who does this at home

Bring the other two into Barry's if the subframe's off the car... have them out in a jiffy...

They will work very well for removing old fillings before you next go to the dentist

I wouldn't be bovvered with all that elbow grease unless it was the only option - these are MUCH easier to remove and install on a press.

My friends have a press at their shop, but since they didn't have all the right fitments, I just burned mine out. I heated up the bushing with a propane torch, trying to not heat the subframe. Once it was hot, they basically popped out with a pry bar. Just take the prybar and get it under the flange and work it around. It took me 15 mins to do all four bushings.
