Whiteline Rear ARB with RS2 Front ARB

My whitline Anti Roll Bar finally arrived after about 6 months of waiting and im glad i persevered and waited for it.

the handling of the car has been transformed yet again. turn is much improved and body roll is almost non existent and feels alot more go kart like.

i am going to experiment with the stiffness setting on the back, i tried it on softess first which wasnt enough, now gone to the other extreme and feels pretty good so will try the middle setting next and see what its like.

    currently i have

Blue top mounts all round, Koni adjustables, H&R front springs all round, RS2 FARB, Whitline RARB, new ARB drop links all round, new steering arms and has been all re aligned to factory specs bang on.

@ Greg, or anyone, the top mounts....how long do these last, i assume it depends on driving? What ones should i be looking @ for the RS or are they the same as S2 ones....

On the RS you only have topmounts on the front. The rears are pretty much coilovers. Your RS2 suspension is basically identical to the S2 Avant. I have just fitted Konis to mine on stock springs. I fitted blue topmounts at the front but I can't see them being significantly different to the original greenies. People say they are stiffer but if they are the difference is negligible in the system since the spring rate dictates the axial stiffness of the strut system as the coilspring's stiffness is orders of magnitude less than the topmount. Radially it may be stiffer but I am not convinced and the bearing looked identical. Another one of those placebos methinks....whatever parts people from their money, I guess!!

How long do they last? How long do breakpads last? It all depends on the driving style.
I reckon they should be good for no more than 30-40K miles in my hands before the bearings collapse again. The rubber doesn't seem the perish but the bearings just break up in time. 'Driving Miss Daisy' types should get about a 200k miles on them!!!

              Hi OZzt!
Did you order directly or from a (Norwegian) tuning company, if so which? I'm considering this too, would be nice to reduce understeer a bit...

How much for the RS2 front and Whiteline Rear (I have a coupe)?
What's it like to fit these, tricky or ok?

Is this a job where you change the strut mounts at the same time because the whole suspension is out anyway?

nah its dead easy to change them, if the car isnt lowered you can change them without needing a jack.

rear whitline was 80 from demon tweeks. the fron RS2 arb i cant remember but i got that from vag parts for a good price.

fitting wise all you need to do is undo the two claps on the subframe holding the ARB on, then undo the drop links. then do the reverse to re fit it. If you jack the car up to do it dont tighten things right up and until the weight is on the car because the arb needs to settle into the right position first.

You dont need to do the alignment for this one, but if its out you want to get that done too.

So a spanner-wielding muppet like myself should be able to take this on? Yikes!
My car is lowered, so sounds like a jack is required.
Has anyone posted a BTDT for these, with pictures and instructions?

ive posted a few pics up, will dig a few up for you. when you do the rs2 one. Its worth replacing the bushes and bolts. because they may be well stuck on but for sake of a few quid its worth getting them.

on the front subframe you undo 4 bolts which hold the two brackets on the arb. then undo the drop links either side using a spanner either side of the drop link.

                        then fit the new one.

Dan, at the garage meet i was chatting to Newsh and he was going to fit an RS2 ARB front (and rear?) the car was on a 2 post ramp but I went off for a cup of tea and whan I came back john was painting anti rust gunge on his wishbones having done the ARB(s).

simple job unless youy have rusty bits!

Hey, you leave my rusty bits out of this!!

If you order the RS2 front bar from VAG Parts it comes with all the new bolts and clamps as a kit, very cool and very reasonably priced I thought.
Really improves the handling, and I haven't even done the rear one yet...
