well found the bush and compared it to the steering arm bush's, its bigger, so a second use at the front isnt possible

its same bush used in audi 100 front steering arms from the late 70's to the late 90's and on typ 85Q typ89Q rear tie rod aswell, so it is quite common...

if theres a group buy there maybe people on the quattroforum intrested

Thats fairly common. Have you got the bush at hand? If i gave you an address could you forward it to Powerflex? I'll Paypal over the cost of postage for you.

Good to know it really depends on Powerflex though wether this happens.

If/when we get the go ahead, i'll start a group buy thread.

                I'd be interested

in a gb for a powerflex style inner bush on the owner's standard arm that an owner could fit themselves, if a gb goes ahead. ( Two grades - track or street - too complicated? )

Would be helpful if someone could post up a "photo" of an S2 rear one - if applicable, to help myself and others appreciate what the rear one looks like?

                Thanks.

This may seem like a really dumb question, but i notice people aren't mentioning Coupe or Avant, is there a difference on the rear tie rods??

This rear tie rod system on a advant, part 1 is tie rod

this is the tie rod in a coupe, its this part and the bush in it i started this thread about and i am assuming its still about this part...

for the home mechanic poly bush is handy as you burn the old bush out and then clean the hole abit and new buh just slides in place by hand

Yep that part is the bit i'm thinking of

Poly bush would be fantastic as they are so easy to install. Not to mention the potential for improving the handling.

Got this reply from Powerflex today.

                        Hi Alex,

I’ve had a look and we have nothing that is similar and would therefore suit this application

Because of the location and size of the bush, using 2 top hat type bushes will not be appropriate as the bush would try and pull out with any sideways forces applied

I will send the part back to your friend

Thank you for efforts in supplying the original part

                        Oh well, nevermind...

                        Anyone else got any ideas?

Rear tie rod, probably the more neglectd of bushes unless you've ever taken off the rear subframe or something.

Sorry just noticed this was a "Rear tie rod bush" thread

I remember the bush your talking about, the inner subframe mount. Are you sure hes right about it being an open ended mount, i'm almost sure it was enclosed each side. I.e. two top hat mounts should do the job?

i am going to build my rear tie rod for my rs2 in stainless steel with a uniball in each end. and instead of the crappy originla adjustment i will have it udjustable almost like this:

i get hold of uniballs in stainless high quality pretty cheap, i can make maybe make some more sets of these when i start making them. i will make a new thread about this though.

One thing i've learned we are way behind the Scandinavians!
