Death of a steering damper?

No more than usual, though it's hard to say with big boots on my wheels. They tend to grab at things anyway. When I change back to the Speedlines and get my tracking sorted I'll update.

thatgreat stiglet! becuase i working on my rs2 to be a track weapon so all bushing in delrin and alu and so on, so i will remove this damper me to!

If it's for track use then I reckon you should remove the damper, I really can't see what use it could possibly be on track. I'm sure it's there just to stop the steering wheel from snatching at your hands if you hit something.

yeah,that what i also think, you cant get enough feeling, will remove it during the weekend

i have mine installed and can't see any downside to it after being round the ring and castle combe a few times.

I wonder if you could put some kind of restrictor in the fluid line to the rack to reduce its assistance

i think you can but i think you need to do the opposite and increase the diameter. Someone like pirtek could easily make one up.....

Well, it was far too cold to be crawling around under the car removed the steering damper today, but about 3/4 of a turn more pre-load on the rack, and it now feels like the steering wheel is actually connected to the wheels

I did it in little bits, maybe a 16th of turn at a time, and kept dialing in more until the wheel didn't want to self centre, then backed it off a bit.
Steering is heavier, loads more "feel" and the car darts about the road like a kart compared to how it did before. Definatley worth a fiddle
