Got Pro-Mounts on mine and I'm still using standard shocks. If they work with the standard shocks can't see why they wouldn't work with any aftermarket ones. Been a while since I fitted them but the only difference from standard mounts is you do away with the castle nut.

i ha dalloy top mounts and kw V2s and i had them untighteneing to begin with but i only tightened them by hand, as soon as i did them tight i did about 5k on them without issue. eventually hit a kerb at 40+ and now one of the solid bearings has a very small amount of play.

Could it be that a lack of grease in the bearing means the mount spins when you steer instead of the bearing, essentially "untightening" itself further if it's not tight enough to begin with? I know that normally, with the stock/promounts/034 mounts, you have a good tight rubber against metal surface contact that won't budge inside the mount housing. The ally ones probably have a bit more slip in them though being metal on metal...Comment

This seems logical enough an explanation......my bearings aren't worn in at all.....hmmmm.Could it be that a lack of grease in the bearing means the mount spins when you steer instead of the bearing, essentially "untightening" itself further if it's not tight enough to begin with? I know they have the weight of the car on them but those bearings could be pretty stiff! Try adding a bit of grease if they look a bit dry.
And if you haven't already, cover them up somehow! From what I remember on Antons ones, the bearing is exposed to dust and f*ck knows what else!Comment

Just looking at them now, they seem to be pretty, ahem, moist, so I don't imagine that was the problem, but I've notice that they seemed to have used a hammer and chisel to do up the lock rings, so they now look absolutely gash. When I get around to getting the KWs I'll fit them and see how I get on, or at least take it to somewhere that knows what they are doing.I know they have the weight of the car on them but those bearings could be pretty stiff! Anyone know of adjustable camber topmounts that would be available for the S2, even if just for the front? That could be used in conjunction with KWs?Comment

Seen those, but not sure if they'd work with KWs, I could ask I suppose.Comment

There is nothing inherantly wrong with the design of the mounts in the first post of this thread. It`s actually a pretty well designed piece. They have one of the lowest profiles of all top-ball mounts on the market, giving ample space for the hood. The Sellholm version for example is a lot taller sometimes coming in conflict with the hood. I really can`t understand other users going on about changing them? All he needs is a couple of drops of threadlock. The OEM style rely on a nylock nut with an integrated nylon locking shim this design does not have this and threadlock is the way to go.
Now, apart from the design I was more interested in quality. Let me know how it works out for you.Comment
