This means the shocks wont work then or are up against seals....
If shocks made a difference in ride hight surely you would get shock overs and not coil overs...
But seriously i canny see as shocks make any difference unless as i say they are wedged up against soem thing like the top or bottom of the shock. An considering the cars weight is on them. The shocks must be as hard as **** im might be wrong but this was what i was always thought ( and told )
Hey if im wrong it wouldnt be a first...
Also like the magnetic adjustable shocks in modern cars you make them stiffer the car dont get higher.. Or am i getting the wrong end of the stick in this conversation...Comment

just stole this comment,,,
If the shock damping is set correctly to work with the spring rate, the answer is "no".
The spring is made to have a "rate" so that it will compress a given amount per given weight.
The spring holds up the car, the shocks/dampers are there to control the action/motion of the spring thus "damping" it or absorbing the "shock", they should not affect static ride height.
you can tell that because all the spelling is correct...

I agree, other than on the front where the spring lower mount is on the shock (in some models) and the position of that mount will have an affect on height.
I know what Jamo is saying about preload, but i think with preload on the spring because of shorter shock, the car would still sit at the same height unless the shock is so short that at its full expansion the spring is more compressed than is is at normal ride height...
And yes, shocks will also maybe have progressively more 'lift' as they are compressed in some cases, but nothing that would actually lift the car to a visable degree.
BTW, I have Green H&Rs... Are there not also Blue ones?Comment

and Jamo if you want i might have some koni shocks and spring you could try but i think your wheels might be to big for them...

A shock absorber wont alter the ride height, BUT the lower spring perch is part of the shock on these cars. So if the lower perch is a few MM lower than a stock shock it will translate to a lower ride height.91CQ20v - Gone to a new home

Bilstein coil over kit
This Kits sits that low as well, moved from konis and fixed length spring to get more rear travel back as it dangerous when you hit 2 bumps one after another, Car soaks up first 1 with the travel , second one throws you off the road, Anyway did not work out like that as not much more travel left in rear coil overs to get me back where I was with the Koni's in the first place

Different car, ie urS4 but i am changing from H&R to standard springs as in the bigger chassis its just too low for our sh*t roads. already cost me a front bumper and the replacement is going as well...Comment

I agree with you there, our S4 also has H&R and its too low at the rear, so low you can hit the tow bar coming off speed ramps!91CQ20v - Gone to a new home
