I have RS2 front and rear on mine and I quite like how it handles especially with H&R springs and slightly lower profile tyres. Would like perhaps slightly stiffer shocks too but not overly fussed as its still really comfortable to be in and what with the roads getting worse...

Upgrading from RS2 Front and Rear to RS2 front Neuspeed rear is a big improvement. Well worth the money!!

Just remember that a silly stiff rear bar might make the car handle well on a smooth road but it doesn't do much for ride comfort (due to removing axle articulation) and can make the rear a bit bouncy and skittish (as ARBs remove grip from an axle, rather than adding!) - this is from first hand experience of my FARB on the rear of the coupe and just ask s2avant about the ability of even a well setup avant to oversteer!

The ideal solution is to fit stiffer rear springs and sort the handling balance out at the source, rather than putting a plaster (rear ARB) on the car to sort the problem of Audi being so safe with chassis setup (think of ARBs as a way to balance a road chassis setup rather than the handling solution of choice). There aren't off the shelf springs that I'm aware of that do this but it would be a simple exercise to do a group buy on 10% or 20% stiffer rear springs that sit at a stock rideheight, as the Avant rear springs are a far simpler design than the front / coupe style. Springs would be ~£100 a pair for the rears, thus 1/2 the price of an ARB.

          Just a thought...

Rusty i would be interested in stiffer rear springs for my avant if say 20% and a drop of 30mm too. I dont want to go back to standard ride as I like the way the car sits with the wheels however I would like it stiffer for slightly more fun and dont really want to change my ARB's.

Would this be possible for £100ish?

I got a quote for a set of custom coupe springs, it was under £200 for all four. I will find the company when my email wants to work again.

If you want it lower then get HnR coupe fronts and avant rears as coupe fronts are a bit softer...

                        Count me in Rusty.

My Avant has standard springs, bilstein front shocks, RS2 FARB and rear shocks and the Neuspeed RARB set on it's stiffest setting. It's fine on the road but understeers like a pig at track days. I'd been thinking about going back to a standard S2 FARB but I'll give a better set of rear springs (or the full set you were talking about a few months back) a go.

                        Cheers

This sounds interesting, any idea how the spring rates compare from stock to H&R's? Rear end sits too low on mine with the H&R springs.

Lloyd had them measured, they're not much stiffer than stock.
