Interesting in C4(UrS4/6 etc.) front subframe alu bushings?
Interesting in C4(UrS4/6 etc.) front subframe alu bushings?
Seems that you can't get any stiffer bushings for the front subframe than OEM. I decide to made some aluminium bushings for my UrS4. Just waiting to get some info about the price. The play with aluminium bushing should be zero so they propably give great improvement in the handling of the car.
These bushings fit all C4 chassis.

Good luck with that. What will increase is noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), something factory engineers work hard to decrease.
Unless your car is a race car and only used on the track, my guess is you will not be happy with the monster you will create with these bushings.
But that is just an opinion. Carry on and report back.
I prefer some noise over this kind of movement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTSOA8a4TkQ But in fact the noise and vibration increase isn't that big at all, you still have the rubber bushings on your tensioners etc.(that I would like to change to polyurethane)... Of course you get some noise, but the benefits of the driving control beats the little extra noise.
Anyway, my car is almost 100% for fun, so some noise and vibrations doesn't matter.
These are only the frontmost bushings. Number 12 in the pic. I'm still working on to get "hard" bushings to replace the 14 and 15. One trick could be that you weld them together.
If you are interested, please tell. Should have a minimum of 10 sets so the price would be less than OEM bushings.

Front buchings, item 12, max. 60e a set(including 4 parts, 2 per hole).
Still working on the 14 and 15 bushings. Propably a simpple thick 10-12mm steelflange with a welded enlargement and a threaded hole in the middle. Price should stay under the OEM price.

Got some comments from users from our finnish forum, also from 'Mulk', about the noise and vibrations with solid bushings. It's not bad at all, depends of your wheels if you even can feel any increase in noise and vibration. The steering control gets really better with them.
The front alu bushings would be max. 60euro/2pcs and the backmost steelflange bushings something between 50-80euro/2pcs. + the postage fees.
I hope this should work out in next couple of weeks. Of course I need the payment before we order the job, because there would be(I hope) something like 10-20 sets of these and I don't have the money to buy them all by my self. Please start and do a list in this thread if you are ready to order a full set. I also have few on our finnish forum who is interested...

The steelflange bushings get a hot zinc coating, so they should last almost like stanless items.

Sounds like a good idea, steering feel is the biggest downside to these cars for me. As per S2 switching to solid subframe mounts has remarkably little impact on noise and vibration, but really does tighten up the steering. Just make sure you do all four, i would not run with two solid mounts and two rubber as all it will do is stress the chassis mounting points at the alloy mounts as the other half of the subframe will be floating on a rubber mount.
