Hey Ben, It's becasue they all drive too slow!! LOL.

I don't do massive mileage but the roads here are pretty wild. All 4 wheels leave the deck far too often! Undulating conditions, hard braking and accelerating while pulling high lateral g's is going to take its toll. My avant is heavy, I have monster brakes and use them to their design capabilities far too often, suspension upgrades and wide tyres all add together to put massive loads through the structure and its the topmounts that give in first. I destroyed a set of Powerflex Poly bushes in no time too. These parts just aren't designed for the type of abuse I give them. I never even felt a difference between the two types when new. If the improvement is there it is marginal and not noticable with my setup.

I think a difference is felt by many because they are new parts replacing very old knackered ones: Placebo?? I drive my car hard and I definately do not get any benefit from fitting blue ones so I will jsut stick with greens and then switch to something more heavy duty when my current ones are up for renewal.

Problem with coupes is they're all too bling . Like I say to people who ask why I never wash my Avant, The cars like me, not much to look at on the surface but underneath it's a different story

I know the 4 wheels off the deck feeling. There are some very harsh roads on the country drive I take home and 'sick air' (as extreme sports enthusiasts call it) is a regular occurence.

I'm very interested in any solution you find to the top mount issue. My mechanic is getting bored of replacing bits that have been on the car less time than the oil filter.

BLING!! WTF. Is that kitchen foil?

My cone filter looks 100 times worse than that. Mine is a proper bodge.

On a sidenote, you checked intake temps with that setup? I need to see if mine works as crap as it looks!!

You can't see it from outside though. It's not kitchen foil, it's a sharan underbody heatshield. Saw it on the shelf at work and thought that might do the trick. I carefully sculpted it to fit by pushing and bending it till it was the right shape. Brute force and ignorance vs. design

I've not scientifically measured the intake temp but have touched the filter after a good long thrash and it is stone cold. Get's warm fairly quick when the car is stationary but in motion the air flow and heat shield seem to work fine.

No connection to seller, no offense to anyone selling parts, 2bennett does sell a top mount kit for replacement of the factory green or blue topmounts.
